one of the missions in challenge 2 does crash the game. I have no idea how to fix that tho, so best to avoid the mission

What are your thoughts on increasing realism in the mod? I've always wanted to disable repair and increase torpedo damage in order to better simulate the danger posed by torpedos. DDs and smaller vessels especially. Would also allow one to knock out a carrier flight deck with dive bombers, leaving it defenceless. (Unless its an armoured RN carrier of course)

Actually not being able to repair systems is finally making the game much better, if ships are damaged and disabled that's it. Need to deal with it. The loss of a flight deck is now possible and deadly. Works on the US Campaign as well. This is what I had always wanted BSM to be.

THANK YOU for adding the Japanese campaign to Midway, I don't play multiplayer so this mod will be a pretty wonderful way to enhance the already great singleplayer experience.

I've tried using the multiplayer map pack and it's added skins, but they've only worked for the planes in singleplayer, but now I can readily enjoy some of the multiplayer content that was offered.

Thanks for the wonderful work, downloading the mod right now, along with the patch. I'm happy to see some love's still out there for this classic~

Hello,
I'm glad you are enjoying the mod, but sadly I can't accept the credit as I didn't create the mod, The readme contains those that worked on this mod. All I did was create the installer to share it with the rest of you guys so you all can enjoy it :)

Right, I've given this mod a go and it works. Well mostly works, there are some issues with the mod crashing when loading some missions, pretty much everything from the IJN's campaign Battle Of Santa Cruz onwards will cause a crash pop-up saying that the game stopped working, and go to desktop. Same happens for a few of the challenges that have been added in.

The missions that do work however, are reasonable and workable, the most difficult one I've faced being the Midway battle where the swarms of planes knocked out 3 of my carriers on my first go, though I still barely one that...

The challenges don't seem to work quite right, one of them basically playing and winning itself with the beginning Dauntless and Avenger airstrikes against the mission targets without my input, and the various ships in these challenges that are not under player control do not move, though their weapons still work fine.

Small things that could use some attention would be score screens to be enabled for the challenges and IJN campaign, along with a briefing screen with objectives displayed. A few of the loading tidbits seem a little odd, I suspect they could be fixed easily if a proper interpreter could work out what was being said.

Overall, this mod has fantastic potential and I'm quite happy with what the mod offers, I'm looking forward to further developments.

Hello,
I would recommend uninstall BSM, and then deleting the BSM folder that the installer creates, and then reinstalling BSM and its updates, and then try this mod again.

There is one mission that's known and that's Java Sea on Challenge 2 that crashes (so far no fix yet is available).

The authors wanted to make it realistic so if your guns is destroyed or engine is knocked out, it won't get fixed throughout the mission. To fix that, I had created a small update that'll help with that, which can be downloaded here: Moddb.com

Hope it helps to get your game working with the mod

Alright, do you mean uninstall and then re-install the base game or this mod? Because I can't get the base game to work when getting the updates since I have a disk version. As in I have the disk that's probably been around since 2007, Version 1.0.0. Downloading the official patches and installing them simply gives a disk error and refuses to be read.

Now if I just needed to uninstall this mod and delete the folder it made, then reinstall it, it should work you mean?

Or perhaps I should do both just to be sure?

And regarding your previous post, well while you didn't make the mod I'm glad you made it available here, and the actual creators of the mod did a pretty good job.

Uninstall base game, and then delete the mod folder so its a fresh install (it really helps to have Steam version as all you have to do is redownload it ;) ). Then you'll want to update it to the latest, which is v1.1.1. Once all that is done, launch the game to ensure things are working correctly before installing the mod

See, the last couple things are the problem. I do NOT have the Steam version, I only have the disk version. I have tried updating the game to 1.1.1 multiple times and each time I try to run, it gives a disk error, preventing me from running anything other than the disk's 1.0.0 version. I am considering getting the Steam version at some point, but that won't be for quite a while, and so I'm stuck with the disk. Still, I'll see if I can do a total un-install and re-install and see if that helps, but if the game MUST be 1.1.1, then I don't think the re-install will do me all that much good.

In any case, thanks for the assistance, this mod still gets high marks for all it brings.

Yeah, Battlestations Midway needs to be at version 1.1.1 in order for the mod to work correctly, anything below gives you a higher risk of things not working the way they should. I wish I could help you with getting the update to work, but I'll wish you good luck with it (that's the fun with software, it either works or it doesn't).

With Steam, BSM can be really cheap, and so far it has been under $1 when on sale, and I know Summer sale might be the first sale, unless there are others.

Well, alright. When/if the game goes on sale, I'll try and get it for steam.

But not Pacific. I've seen it's reviews and it apparently does not work at all now that Games For Windows Live is gone. Yet Midway seems to still work just fine, go figure.

Anyway, thanks for all the help, I'm gonna try Steam version.

Okay.

Pacific you need to have some computer knowledge, but it is possible to get GFWL working on Windows 10. Just isn't an easy walk in the park. I know if you ask the BSmodHQ team on Discord (https://discord.gg/Es8U93) or some other place like the forums

Oh I'm running Windows 7, I refuse to use 10 or go back to 8 with their disastrous user interfaces and shoddy compatibility with games that I still own.

And no I'm not getting GFWL working online either, it ruins experiences with games to the point of performance drops or audio-visual bugs. Zero interest in re-installing GFWL.

Midway doesn't require anything, so that's the only one that I'll get.

I gave the Steam version a purchase during summer sale, and I gotta say that it still feels alright. The new ship challenge still crashes and I've yet to test the remaining challenges since my last play, but after trying the final IJN mission I gotta say:

The final mission must be impossible, far too many carriers and too few ships to fend off the massive waves of bombers. On top of that it takes just SO LONG for the ships to sail onto the map proper and several minutes are spent doing absolutely nothing while you wait to get a single contact. Feels more like the Yamato ship challenge, only with more planes and more waiting...

Yeah same here. What would be nice is playing this mod in BSP with all the issues fixed up and such things. What I would do is place all AA ships in the direction that the planes comes from so hopefully it'll be one maybe that gets through

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Problem is that the bombers will sometimes go for the few destroyers and the one cruiser and leave me with maybe four destroyers at the most, and that is simply not enough. The only "mercy" here is that the Carrier-Battleship combined fleet doesn't move from it's position, but since the AI has an UNLIMITED amount of planes the mission is simply unwinnable. Even if the planes WERE finite, they come in too dense of a swarm that it's simply not possible to whittle their numbers down.

Still, getting the Steam version of BSM did at least solve the crashing issues and I was able to play the remaining challenges. Though, I can't help but feel a bit bummed that the new skins from the Modder's Map Pack don't show up in the campaigns.

Yeah, IDK what the mod developers were thinking about the mission of Yamato. I do have to agree though that it is close to impossible to complete.

No idea why, unless they forgot to add the skins to the campaign missions.

is there a mod where in the last mission these destroyers have changed into battleships 6 class yamato and 4th class iowa because one youtuber had but there were more aircraft carriers and even so won and 1 battleship has no chance of winning if so many planes are flying on ng if it's about this mod that I installed it but then at the battleship yamato you can not shoot at the aircraft from the altyleria as anti-aircraft guns

yes this update helps and at the same time removes the ability yamato speed battleships congo before the upgrade yamato could shoot from altylerii to aircraft and besides I know that in the Japanese campaign you can not win 3 missions because they are too difficult I would be very grateful if the Japanese campaign was not so much easier

first of all, i have to spend like 20 minutes sitting like an idiot coz in the first mission the ships r out of the map....then the pearl harbor map has hills that r only showing the hilltop but not anything else...so hills r literally floating in the sky....i tried to get my battleships close but couldnt differentiate where the land is and where the ocean is....

When I install the International BSM Collection mod, when I play the Battle of the Philippines Sea mission, the mission works normally, but when I install the IBSMC Update 1 mod in that mission, the game starts to close some solution.

Hey, the mod mostly works for me, except for some of the new challenges where I can't control most of the ships. I tried the mod on both the steam and disk versions and they both had the same problem.

One thing to note is that I had to "fix" the Steam version stuttering issue by replacing the executable with a copy of the testapp file, so that might be why. However, Even when reverting to the base steam game with stutters, the mod still didn't work on the challenge missions.

Any idea on what might be causing this?
