I took all of the original Half-Life sounds and ran them through an AI, thus upscaling them to a high resolution
To use this: move the 2 folders in the archive to your valve/ directory with replace
This only works on Xash3D.
(Google how to install it).
GoldSrc won't work because it's capped at 22050hz, which won't sound any different.
This is a very simple addon. I had this idea months ago, even posted on Reddit a small example, but only now got around to actually completing it. I took all of the original Half-Life sounds and ran them through an AI, thus upscaling them to a high resolution (44.1khz; 16-bit). It sounds amazing, and should be a nice addition to your game.
I'm not a professional, so there might be some popping left at the end of some files. Tested to be working just fine on Windows 10 with Xash3D build4344.
neat. what program did you use to do this?
iZotope RX
The spectral recovery filter in particular
Spectral recovery doesn't work.
This sound pack is amazing!
Wow, S is very detailed, but some is not high quality
Sadly I don't use Xash3D but I was thinking, people have ported high quality sounding sounds for HL1, so what if you tried getting help from others for it to work in regular Goldsrc, by the way have you've tried doing Opposing Force or Blue Shift? I'd think that'd be pretty cool to try.
I think high quality sounds on Goldsrc is not exactly possible, because the sound from goldsrc is limited to 11025hz, if you put a high quality sound, it's going to have a hiss along with it. The Sven Co-Op engine (Svengine) has possibility to more than that but, i don't think Goldsrc can be modified and still be Goldsrc, not a new engine.
Of course, but there have been sounds that are high quality put into goldsrc and barely had a hissing sound, I do hope someday these voices could be transferred to the original goldsrc, but still you are quite correct.
i discovered this later, i searched a bit and i found that the weapon sounds are not limited, as for the dialogs and others, it has a hissing sound, but you are right
Yup, still a pretty good mod, hoping the creator makes support for the expansions, always wanted to hear what Otis sounded like without all that compression in his dialogue.
is there any other way to upscale sounds i really want to do this i know the iZotope RX thing pretty sure that costs money or something so is there any other way?
This mod is awesome! It works great in Lambda1VR. Please do this mod for Opposing Force, it really needs it.
It's been pretty long, maybe I'll look into it later
Kinda yes but no - mostly can't spot difference (need some eq love), lots of clipping, some have oversaturated highs, some audio changed too much and barely resemble original sounds, some sound too synth, only some sound actually better. iZotope RX Spectral recovery is such a hit or miss, for better quality it's better find source audio, reverse ingeneering or just pick another sound
Well, I haven't exactly gone through every sound, I just automated it. By all means, if you have original audio, substitute my poorly remastered versions with superior ones. I'm not that big of a geek on the original Half-Life, so I didn't know where to find those kinds of "original" sounds

This is one of the most important Half-Life mods out there, as a person who has played the game at least 30 times, this mod feels fresh and on a good pair of headphones feels like an official remaster of sorts. Also, this is the first time Im playing on XHash3D, for some reason, it looks the same but feels better. Its like there is an authenticity to it that lacks in the steam release of Half-Life 1. Feels a bit closer to the WON release.
Glad you like it!
igmn: GoldSrc won't work.

Where do you put the sounds? I'm aware it says put the sounds in the folder where you would put mod sounds but I'm not sure what that means.
Works hand in hand with Half Life RTX. Good job!
