This is a standalone version of my Fog Effects mod. You can customize color, density, and even have a random fog effect for every level! Options are located in the Gameplay Options menu. This overrides any other sector effects, so if your map uses special effects, disable it in the menu before you start!
Quick update, had to fix the menu weirdness on Pre-2.2 GZDoom.
long time no see man, nice to see another cool project from you again, i'm gonna try it right now, i'm sure its gonna be awesome to fight in the middle of all that fog, although i know i'll have to run for my life many times when i use this, if i survive the ambush i mean XD, by the way did you read my comments in uac survival pack section?
is this to emulate software fog under opengl??
Thanks, very useful. It gives another whole experience for every level.
hi man i tried this thing with many wads and i have to say that playing with this is the same as playing one level above chosen difficulty, is very nice in red and gray, but there are other colors that could be used without being too weird, however there is something i notice in options when using this, the thing is that as weapon wheel addon, this thing has its options in gameplay section so if i load them together, they both work with no issues, however i can only see the options of that i load the latter, i think one is overwriting the other, could you check that out?
Yeah, if the wheel addon uses gameplay menu, the one loaded last takes preference. Not much can be done aside from changing one of them. Feel free to edit one of them and add combine it if you want. It's MENUDEF.
This is great! Really reminds me of when I used to play the original Doom shareware when I was four, and I could have sworn I saw white fog on Knee Deep in the Dead. Thanks to this, my nostalgia's overflowing! :D
Interesting, this with doom psx soundtrack will be awe-so-me
I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong but it isn't having any effect for me... Do i need a certain version of gzdoom ?
not that i know, i have gzdoom 1.9.1 and works like a charm, what i did was get to gameplay and set it to active before starting a new game, otherwise it won't work, don't set the density too high or you won't see a thing, but in order to not suffer too much from this use a health bar addon that helps a lot
hi man, something curious i noticed when using this is that fog also appears at menu background when active, i don't know if is intentional but looks good on it, is a nice touch if is set to be thin, if is too dense it looks king of funny
That's semi-intentional... It's because I didn't specifically tell it not to load if it's an intro map... but I think I'll leave it as is so it reminds people that the fog is turned on. :)
yeah i agree with that, plus it gives kind of more presence to main menu

hi man i just updated my gzdoom version to 2.2.0 official release and i have a weird problem when using new gzdoom with this, for different reasons some surfaces turn totally black and in some cases all surfaces letting almost blind, however i have no issues with 1.9.1, could you check if is me or gzdoom?
I downloaded this yesterday, I got the options in the menu, but no fog effect or anything was visible in-game. I even set the density to max, and nothing. I don't have any special effects installed, I have only texture packs, sound packs, and 2-3 new weapons. I also have display options set to high, rendering to high, etc. Not sure what the problem is, any help would be appreciated.
Please, someone update this fog effect, to be compatible with the new gzdoom 2.2+!
Not sure what issues you're having? It seems to work on the current 3.0 GZDoom fine.
Mod is not working on gzdoom 3.0 and higher.
Looks absolutely great! The random fog is a really cool idea and it honestly gives areas this strange, dreamlike quality, especially in dark areas.
Thanks for this mod, I now use this in every Doom game I play.
Hey guys, i figured why the mod wasn't working for me. The mod is disabled by default, so in order to enable it, you have to go to Options > Gameplay options > Fog Effects (at the bottom), then at the bottom of the Fog effects menu, there's an option to Enable the fog effects
