Here is the Flashlight and Battery as pickable items. These are the items I use in White Night.
These two files are entities, and specifically item types.
so they go in Entities/Items

Well, now that we have flashlight, we want to have batteries too! I thought it'd be harder to do this, but it turned out easier than I expected. Simply, I took the Penumbra: Black Plague battery and made it LampOil item. It's same as the normal LampOil item in terms of quantity it adds. It has its inventory image too.
You have to add two new lines to Inventory category of your base_english.lang file though:
<Entry Name="ItemName_Battery">Battery</Entry>
<Entry Name="ItemDesc_Battery">Battery for flashlight.</Entry>
Flashlight:
Well, you should pick up flashlight as lantern item and show flashlight in your inventory.
I made DIGIByte's flashlight as a pickable item and once you pick it you have flashlight to light both in your hands and in your inventory. Inventory image is from Penumbra: Black Plague. This flashlight is only an item and different from actual flashlight you hold. Like lantern item and lantern you hold.
You have to add two new lines to Inventory category of your base_english.lang file though:
<Entry Name="ItemDesc_Flashlight">The flashlight will light up dark places. When in game press $ButLantern to turn it on.</Entry>
<Entry Name="ItemName_Flashlight">Flashlight</Entry>
You need to give respective credits to be able to use this props.

I already shared this on forum long time ago and I felt like putting here too. This might encourage rest of the modders to build some modern day mods.

These are just items. When you pick up the flashlight as an item, you can switch on and off what you have as lantern object. In vanilla game, that would be lantern. In full conversions, it depends what you have installed. In my case, it is a flashlight.
what if i don't want it to be a lantern in my hand, but a flashlight both in my inventory and my hand in a non full conversation mod?
Where do i put the battery?
Where do you want it to be, but it has to be in entities folder.

Downloaded it, put the item_flashlight item_battey in the Entities/Items but what do I do now?

I really need help, ive put both item_batteries and item_flashlight in the entities/item, but it's still oil & lantern in the game, ive tried to remove the potion_oil and lantern folders aswell and then the lantern and oil dissapears from the game completely, also removed all the lantern and oil files and replaced them with flashlight and batteries, still nothing, I NEED HELP! IT DOESEN'T WORK ;_;
This doesn't replace your lantern and oil items. These are new items and you need to use them in your level editor to make new custom stories or mods.
OOOOH! I thought it was pickable ingame items, i have an flashlight and it bugs me that i have to pick a lantern and oil when i have a flashlight :| wish these could be used ingame aswell...

i've put the item_batteries and item_flashlight in the entities/item, and used it in level editor.
when i was trying the custom story with the battery and flashlight, i could pick them up, but it didn't had a name, and when i equiped it,it looked like the flashlight in the inventory but it looked like a lantern in my hand.
also i had oil instead of baterries, but it still looked like batteries IN MY INVENTORY!!
plz help figure this out.
Do the tutorial to get flaslight etc THEN download White night custom story and fix it then play it and use the flaslight

Looks like everyone got that bug with that you're getting up an lantern instead of flashlight, and batteries are like oil. I found the flashlight mod too but i didn't wanna replace my lantern so i looked this up. Someone knows how to make so the lantern doesen't show up and flashlight does? i would be thankfull!

HOW DO I INSTALL THIS MOD? I am a noob in installing mods in Amnesia D: That was my first try but it didn't work :( HELP PLEASE :( i don't know what i should do with the base_english file :(
Ermmmmm, what are you doing with the base_english file? You just need to put the two folders, flashlight and battery, into the entities folder (making a sub-folder helps for sorting stuff in the level editor :)) of your Amnesia mod, if you're using a full conversion that is.
How do i get my lantern back
Is there any way to replace lantern without making it full conversion or changing the original lantern files? Or, is there a way to have more kinds of lantern in one custom story?
These are only pickable items, when I press F, normal lantern appears.
Without a full conversion there is not much you can change.
And yes, these are only pickable itesm AS the description and title indicates so.
OK thanks for info, I am not sure if I am going to learn how to create full conversion but if I use these I always give credit.
