Do you like the backpack animation from FDDA but hate being immobile while opening the backpack as well as having to wait for the animation to finish to see the inventory? Well, this is the addon for you!
UPDATED FOR 2023 (STILL FUNCTIONS THE SAME MEANING THE BUGS ARE STILL PRESENT)
Player can now move and immediately see the inventory as soon as they open their backpack. There are two folders in the zip file, one for being able to only move when equipping the backpack and one for moving and immediately seeing the inventory (but at a cost which is bugs that you will have to avoid on your part).
Update 1: fixed bug for MOVE AND IMMEDIATE INVENTORY where inventory does not actually show up immediately
Update 2 (3/23): I saw comments saying the addon does not work with latest FDDA so I decided to update the mod.
Update 3 (4/23): Fixed faction backpacks not showing. Warning that IMMEDIATE INVENTORY may have a visual glitch that shows up for a millisecond when closing backpack. Only noticeable if you focus on the backpack.
Installation:
- make sure FDDA is installed
- drag gamedata of one of the folders into main stalker anomaly folder and overwrite
- should be compatible with every addon since the file is specifically for the backpack animation
One thing that still bothers me is that you will have to wait for the backpack opening animation to finish to back out of the inventory. There are two ways one can shorten the inventory close delay:
- Skip the last couple frames of the opening animation through file configuration
- FDDA folder -> gamedata -> items -> ea_addon_backpack.ltx
- open with notepad and decrease tm value under [backpack_open]
- if i set tm from 1600 (default) to 100, player will skip 99% of the opening animation
- i recommend 1500
- Speed up the backpack opening animation and match the sound with it through blender or maya.
All I did was comment out a few lines and move other lines from one function to another in a script file.
Bugs I found but don't know how to fix. The bugs are difficult to remove because of how FDDA is coded:
- (MINOR) when opening the inventory, you will see a sausage appear and vanish for a split second. I'm not fast enough to test if that sausage can be eaten or not
- (MINOR BUT AVOIDABLE) if the player presses the "escape" key during the backpack opening animation (to cancel looking at the inventory) and then tries to look at the inventory again, the player will equip the backpack but the inventory ui will not show.
- avoidable by not pressing escape during backpack opening animation
- quick fix is to simply press the inventory key again.
- (MAJOR BUT AVOIDABLE) if the player uses an item DIRECTLY FROM THE INVENTORY while the backpack opening animation is played, then the player will not be able to equip any weapon as if they have no arms and hands.
- avoidable by waiting for the backpack animation to end before using an item from their inventory
- fixable by reloading save
- present only in MOVE AND IMMEDIATE INVENTORY
O, come on! Finally I can and watch nice backpack animation, but also using inventory instantly!
If you press "I" for opening inventory and take a quick look and then exit by pressing "Esc", the animation gets stuck and you can't switch weapons or do anything. Is it possible to fix that?
Do you mean like when your character is just holding out the backpack and you can't equip anything else in your hands? Simple fix is to press the inventory key again, in your case "I". It's recommended that you back out using "I" only. However, you can also use "Esc" only if when the backpack opening animation finishes. If you haven't read the description, I list a few bugs that you should be aware of and the solutions for it for your playthrough.

При использовании бинта не могу менять оружие, даже при включённом EA debug. Узнал что именно из за этого мода происходит данный баг путём отключения других модов. Исправьте пожалуйста.
When using a bandage, I can't change weapons, even with EA debug enabled. I found out that it is because of this mod that this bug occurs by disabling other mods. Please fix it.

Are you using the bandage during the backpack opening animation? That bug is avoidable if you wait for the animation to finish before using any item.
What mod do I need to install for this to work?
What kind of a question is that? Do you mean it is not working anymore? Elaborate?
needs to be updated for newest FDDA, will crash when using this mod with BETTER STATS BARS (UPDATE 5).
The latest version as of now should not have this problem as it works on my end.
You should make a quick compatibility patch for the mod Backpack Redux (update)
The two mods work together, but the backpacks from Backpack Redux do not show up, instead it's the generic backpack.
