Adds settings to change FOV, mute and pause on focus loss, borderless window, adjusted mouse sensitivity and removed camera pitch clamping, letting you move all the way up and down.
I originally made this mod back in July 2022, but only posted it on the Steam Discussion forums. I haven't made any changes since then, but I'm still hoping to get some feedback on changes I should do. I've also just found out that Hawkbird has tried modding the menu in a similar way 12 days before I originally published this, so ignore the part about nobody trying to mod the game.
Here's the original text:
So I decided to finally play this game, despite all the negative reviews. Immediately I had to stop because of the low FOV.
So, I decided to do what seemingly nobody dared to do yet: mod the game.
Since I only started playing, these few fixes are only for the things I noticed for the very beginning of the game. If there's anything else you think needs fixes, please let me know.
Please let me know if I managed to break anything.
Head over to the game's install folder (the one with DeusEx_steam.exe), go to DeusEx_steam_Data, and copy that DLL into the Managed folder, replacing the original file.
(Deus Ex The Fall\DeusEx_steam_Data\Managed\Assembly-CSharp.dll)
- Removed camera pitch clamping (you can now look all the way up and down)
- Fixed mouse sensitivity (0 now actually means 0, sensitivity might actually be too low for most people now since I play with high DPI, please let me know)
- Added an option to adjust first person, third person and weapon FOV (under video settings)
- Added an option to set the game to borderless window (under video settings, thanks to Novack.itch.io
- Third person FOV now actually gets applied to the third person camera
- Vaulting now no longer overrides the FOV (?)
- Added an option for muting and pausing the game on focus loss (ALT+TAB, under audio and system settings respectively)
And here's some feature ideas I have but didn't try implementing yet/not sure if they should be implemented:
- Add a separate zoom button for crossbows & stuff
- Remove tutorials
- Add custom options to the in-game pause menu as well (very painful)
- Actually mute audio on focus loss rather than just muffling it
- Make mouse sensitivity a float so it could accept decimal values
- Make the custom options selectable using arrow keys / controller buttons like the original options are (I was lazy and there's too much code)
- Add a jump button
- Set Mankind Divided style keybindings as default
I'm frankly surprised nobody tried doing this yet. The game runs on Unity and doesn't use il2cpp, which is as moddable as it gets.
To be fair, as this is Unity 4, I couldn't get MelonLoader or even BepInEx to work (maybe Doorstop would've worked?), but you can just easily use dnSpy. Cloning the UI elements was a pain though.
I'm going to keep playing through the game, finding more stuff.
In video settings, turn off Fullscreen and turn on Borderless Window. If the game window still has a border, restart the game. It breaks if you switch from Fullscreen. I don't really know how to fix that yet.
