project remap is a map pack project for doom 2 to give the original levels a freshen up, version 0.35 levels 1-4 have been completed so far, project remap goals are to add new area's to the level's while using GZDoom's dynamic lighting feature and ambient sounds such as lights humming,alarms,flowing water,gas pipe sounds etc.this project has only been tested on GZDoom's version 2.3.2 64bit and newer. version 0.35 has 2 wad files for reflective floors ( FR'S ) "on" or "off". gzdoom link in the description.

the default mod i use when testing these levels is brutal doom V20b.
there is 2 wad files to play,
one has reflective surfaces for this is more directed to mid to hi end gaming pc's to take advantage of this feature.
with floor reflections " on " ( FR'S on ) there is 2x the load on the gpu/cpu as there is a second room that is rendered
underneath or above the player and that room is bled through the floor or ceiling textures to give
the look of a reflection from the players perspective,
if you want the most fps and the smoothest experience, play with floor reflections off. ( FR'S off )

Would you consider releasing the background textures separately? I love remakes of classic levels as much as the next guy but I would also love all the doom II wads out there to look like this. Seriously I would open my wallet for that.

The file i downloaded is in the form of a RAR file and will not work for me. can you help me?
you have to open the file up using a program like winrar then grab wad file inside and you should be good to go.
You can also use 7Zip, which is free and doesn't require a subscription. :)

can i use 7zip for this i know its an rar file but the last time i tried to download rarlab it gave me a very annoying virus. i so need this though!

downloaded all of you HD addons you had in the readme. I'm getting a "corrupt zlib stream" error upon launch, cant figure out whats wrong, was wondering if maybe you could help.

the error maybe the " hd addon's " that is in the read me folder for version 0.32, maybe there is a mod in that hd pack that is outdated now? if i remember correctly i reckon i only used the hd foot steps from that mod pack so maybe other files in that pack are outdated possibly that's all i can really say only other thing is make sure you are using a proper release version of gzdoom and not a dev build as dev builds are alpha versions so things may not work with a certain dev build. hope this helps. cheers

no it does not currently. i use gzdoom builder to make the maps and some of the features in gzdoom builder that i use are not rendered such as 3d floors and some of the doors do not open up as well this can be fixed in the next update but i am unsure with 3d floors, i will have a look at this and see if there is a way to get all of 3d floors working.
this is really awesome stay determined so us players could enjoy this it looks awesome

played through all 10 maps and the biggest issue is ammo as there is waaaay too much in the weapon depots or vaults the normal Doom II areas where done wonderfully just some of the extra areas added on such as the waste tunnels and the new areas in underhalls need to be tweaked to have a bit fewer enemies

yea totally agree i am currently slowly remapping all 10 levels from version 0.31 folder, the levels will be completely different with level design and a more balanced enemy layout and just better quality looking maps. cheers

Goddamn, just gotta say, the screenshots alone make this pack look ******* boss... So freakin' boss my PC probably won't handle it! XD I'll try it and see if it works, 'cause I'm all for smashing Hell's forces to bits to these maps!

I did indeed try it with Project Brutality and holy ****... This pack lives up to what I expected. I have tried a few vanilla map "revamp" projects in my time in the Doom community, but genuinely, this is the best one I've seen so far. I am impressed that this exists /and/ my PC still runs it!

the maps are very well made. you can see the inspiration from the original doom but with a more realistic setting. they are quite hard tho, (alot of sniper imps and sometimes low on ammo but i maybe shouldn't play a high difficulty with brutal doom X) ) but that will add to the challenge :)

cheers man, the sniper imps you talk about would you be referring to the imps in level 1 on top of the buildings?
not only them (i know how to kill them, use the uac multirocket launcher defence system ^^) but each time i enter a vaste room there is imps firing every where from a long distance. but thats because there is alot of imps around the levels and brutal doom AI.
