Returns the Zone to the way it should be; a bleak and sparsely populated area, not a tourist attraction on holiday. Significantly reduced the human population in the Zone and increased respawn times. Added randomness to where, when, if, and how many squads will spawn in a certain area. Brings a feeling that the Zone is a barren wasteland to explore and is very lonely, and that the Zone itself is the one trying to kill you. There is still plenty of action to encounter, and the reduced freqency of running into a human or mutant adds interesting new challenges. For instance, you will be caught by surprise more often since you don't constantly have your guard up, less humans means less bodies to loot, less friends to trade with, and less people helping to reduce the mutant population. Added the same variety of mutants as my More Mutants mod, just not as many. Increased the respawn time for helos. Compatible with CoC 1.4.22

Thanks to CzechDeath for the idea!
thank YOU for making it happen! =D
Also ... this require new game ?
It might require a new game. Otherwise you may get a crash if it is expecting a squad to be there where there isn't one supposed to be.
Indeed crash it was =D
Time for "pure" Ironman. Thanks !
good job
I really like your addons. Keep up the good work ;)
This mod is must have :D
Is there a "delete helicopter" mod?
you can turn them off in game options?
-_-*
Thanks, I'll give it a try.
Yet another great addon by Doctor X. Nice work mate!
Хорошая работа + оптимизация игры.
exactly what i was looking for. tried on 1.3.12, didn't work, of course :(
waiting for update.
did you try new game? there are spawn configs, which will give you CTD if you try to load save game...
Yes, i tried on a new game. Does anyone confirm that its compatible with the current version? Just to know if the problem is on my end... i will re-check it anyway
Hmm I dont run the .12 version yet... I'm waithing for manual patch... cause I was unable to update by the updater, so far...
Got ctd after installing tru updater... unlike manual patches... so might be due to that alone... =D
Fixedbit. My mistake
Does it work with new version ?
Yes, it works with 1.3.12
confirmed... It works great...I combined it with "fixed relations" (using CoP relations) I've met like 15 people total, in cordon ... and than saw distant scene on garbage, where loners fought 2 bloodsuckers, what a bloody fight... I sitll had just my AK-74u so I died like 3 times trying to help them ... then military came and help them out... returned to their patrol and then attacked bandit settlement in hangar... very intense situations. Now my Call of Cherno is exactly how I wanted it... This combo had actually changed whole economy of CoC now... as encounteres are more sparse... you relay more on artefacts and stashes instead of looting...
Can you combine this with your more mutant addon? Btw, very nice addons!
Thanks! This addon already contains the same files as my More Mutants addon, so combining them would be redundant.
One of the best addons out there for CoC!It makes the Zone into what it is in real life:an abandoned, dead, cruel place.Keep up the good work man!
Awesome idea, but some iconic places are virtually empty. Like, when you go to the Duty HQ, there are no/few guards at the checkpoints. Same thing with army bases, and Rookie village. It's perfectly okay if that's intended effect though.
Finnaly someone fixed this, people complained about CS being too populated and now CoC is to and everybody is suddenlyy fine with it. Thanks for this mod, exactly what was needed to enjoy it fully.
Forgot to log in :P
yea some stalkers just go to the zone to get away from those pescy
people, right?
Right!
Zone is a good place for that :D
It would be great if you could edit the population level, so the people who want the Zone to be less populated than the normal CoC but not a deserted place could edit the addon to have the population they want
Anybody can do that by tweaking the files.

Unfortunately I'm ~5 hrs into my current game so I don't want to restart, but I can't wait to try this for another round! I hate how NPC's constantly spawn in every few hours...
Thanks for this!
i like this mod, i got a question, can you populate underground places like labs and such, there quite no mutant lol am surprise no one added some or fit anyway if y can it would be great lol
It wasn't possible at the time, but it looks like the beta patch added that functionality. Once it's made official I'll update this.
Please update this mod with next COC patches, this is must have :D
This can use an update for the beta patches - specifically RC4, this gets rid of the arena master.
I'll definately be updating this, I just keep waiting for the next official release. This is already an addon-for-a-patched-version-of-a-mod- for-a-patched-version-of-3-games-merged-into-one, I hate the idea of doing an update for a beta version of all that. I do love what's coming out in the beta though, if CoC 1.4 doesn't drop in the next couple weeks I might just go ahead and update this for it.
That's understandable. I'll be sure to use whatever you put out next, whenever it arrives :)
Absolutely love this addon. 1.4 live version will take some time. Would be awesome to see Desolation updated for latest beta version
Please, do a mod with mutant and NPC Populated Underground facilities. (Just for the underground facilitiesl, please )
Any update for 1.4?
would be kindof pointless.
Not necessarily, respawn times were drastically reduced. Now in standard 1.4 enemies just respawn after like 15 mins or so in the same location. Kind of immersion killing.
Update inbound.
And no, the new population sliders don't replace this mod. In addition to reducing the population levels this also increases the variety of mutants and, as scarrus pointed out, respawn times have been increased.
Should have the update ready later today.
Ah, TIL, ty for info.
Updated to version 1.2 for compatibility with CoC 1.4
Thx!
Hey, DoctorX. Excellent addon, I really enjoy it.
I have a question regarding new spawn multipliers in CoC 1.4 though. Do they "cooperate" with your addon? If so, would you recommend any specific numbers for that matter?
Thanks! Yes, the population sliders will work just fine with this addon. To keep the levels as I originally intended them, leave the levels at 1, but you are free to tweak them to suit your preference.
Yeah, I was wondering what the point of this mod is after they introduced spawn multipliers.
But yeah this reduces spawns even more, on top of the multipliers.
