Will this work with extended ?

i've not tested it but as long as nothing else touches the "(ammo).ltx" files it should work!

(gamedata/config/weapons/ammo/(here are all 11 ammo files))

Thanks for the mod! Is this for a specific LA version?

No Problem! It's just a little tweak I decided to share with you guys!
I currently play it on the latest official (1.4007) one.. but it should actually work on every version!

it's for both of course! it makes the game harder! but also more interesting for skilled players who are looking for a harder more realistic game! :)

So I threw config in gamedata and enabled gamedata in fs file (extended version).

The game crashes to desktop but still keeps "running" in the background. And the only way to fix it is restart the computer. As soon as I delete the config folder the game launches normally.

Any idea what I am doing wrong?

did you back it up? it sounds like a problem inflicted by a different mod - two mods are probably in conflict with each other..can you send me a modlist?

Hmm.
There was no "config" folder at all in my gamedata folder until I threw this one in, so there was nothing for me to back up.

The only mods I use are the ones that come with DC extended version

1) Graphics Extended
2) Grass Sprites
3) LADC Extended
4) Monsters less tied to gulags
5) Russian Voice Acting
6) Flashlight 1.30
7) HUD v. 1.61
8) Life Activity sounds
9) Animated Detectors
10) Dynamic HUD
11) HD Hands Pack
12) HD Hands Pack Optimized
13) HD NPC Pack
14) Player hit effects

I should also say that I added the "true" value next to gamedata in fs folder.

it might not work with extended the same way it does with LA then.. you need to find the (ammo).ltx files and replace them with my files! i will look into it as soon as i got the time :)

There was never an ammo ltx file that I could edit. Once I install DCE (and the same went for DC version), there is never a config folder because everything (ai; config; scrips; textures folders) is packed in gamedata.db files - files that I cannot edit.

I do have a gamedata folder but the only things in there upon install are the "levels" folder, and then a bunch of db files - anims, levels, meshes, shaders, textures. I think the game rejects ANYTHING else that is thrown in the gamedata because

So I'd have to use an unpacker/extractor file to "extract" those files into the main executable folder. When I do that I get the "unpack" folder where ai; config; scrips; textures folders are located. But even when I change weapon damage values in config folder nothing changes in the game.

So I don't know if I have to "repack" the . I am still waiting for an answer on the DCE page.

I think the game rejects any files thrown in the gamedata folder because the ai; config; scrips; textures folders are packed in gamedata db files.

That's the thing. I don't know how to "repack". the extractor only does the unpacking for me :(

Eeeehhh, and why we can't just edit weapon files without stupid crashes. I hate original balance of this Lost Alpha.

For future users:

Overall a very... realistic mod, in a way.

9x18mm weapons can kill a bandit in 4 or so shots, boar take closer to 5-6 shots and anyone in heavier armor like the Merc Suit bandits would likely take around 8 if I had to guess.

9x19mm weapons are about the same but take 1 bullet off. MP5's are not very effective past fighting bandits, I don't at all suggest you take one to Agroprom to fight the military.

45 weapons are scarcely more powerful than the rest, likely again taking one or two shots off those numbers.

5.45 and 5.56 rifles can kill a typical bandit with 1-2 shots to the chest. The weaker, brownish boar take about 3-4 shots, the black boar you see further up north take 5-6 shots. Even with AP ammo Mercs take 2-3 shots, as do Bandits in Merc suits. Exoskeleton guys can take like 9 shots of non AP 5.56.

Didn't test but 7.62x39 is likely around the same but a shot or two taken off for each. Quite powerful.

Anything over those calibers you can assume will just instantly kill almost anything. For instance with the tougher vehicles mod an SVD could actually significantly damage the BTR while it shrugged off damage from any assault rifle and anomaly without so much as a tick missing. So immune to small arms fire, but high caliber stuff will ruin you.

Things to bear in mind are that if you don't use a tougher car mod, a casual spray from an AKS-74U will probably nuke your car pretty easily. Also, turn off Harcore AI aim. They will pretty consistantly shoot you clean in the head instantly upon seeing you, and with this mod it will kill you instantly no matter what you're wearing. Realistic, but they do it too often for it to be enjoyable. Also more or less rounds hitting your chest will cause light bleeding and do... id say around 15% damage, or 50% with medium bleeding, or 75% with heavy bleeding. More of the latter than the former, but you see them all. SO if you just want tense, fast combat? Pretty great mod for that.
