The objective of this mod is to rebalance the price and weight of cooking gear and sleeping bags to be way more viable in game while staying realistic.
I was always annoyed by how unpractical cooking and camping were, even while playing as a Renegade or UNISG. It is simply more viable to carry a lot of food since it can be bought for slightly cheaper and carried more lightly, not to mention that it's a common human loot. Camping is actually pretty useful when every bases was occupied by hostile stalkers, but it still weight way more than it should, making huge sacrifices in your total weight carried.
The modifications aim to be be a balance of realism (weight especially) and gameplay (price especially) to make it more accessible. It's made for early game with hard/survivalist settings in mind, for a playthrough with little to no reliance on traders.
Changes :
- Sleeping bag : Weight reduced from 2.28 to 1.2. Base price changed from 2580 to 2380.
- Compression bag : Weight reduced from 0.54 to 0.15. Base price changed from 510 to 410.
- Tent & tent bag : Unchanged.
I hesitated for a while for this one but I think it's fine as it is.
- Field Cooking Set (3 uses - charcoal) : Weight reduced from 1.92 full/1.02 empty to 1.04/0.74. Base price changed from 2310 to 710.
Bare minimum of crappy but cheap gear.
- Army Kettle (7 uses - charcoal) : Weight reduced from 2.27 full/1.19 empty to 1.27/0.87. Base price changed from 6160 to 3160.
The more cost efficient weight and quality wise if you're willing to pay for more.
- Multi-Fuel Stove (Unlimited - Gas) : Weight unchanged (0.93). Base price changed from 10155 to 8155.
The best, pretty light but expensive. Its fuel weight more however.
- Charcoal (3 uses) : Weight reduced from 2.72 full/0.32 empty to 0.55/0.10. Base price changed from 1262 to 320.
Why carry almost 3kg of charcoal for just 3 pieces of bacon ? They become small portative bags filled with small pieces of charcoal, enough to make a small fire.
- Kerosene (5 uses) : Weight reduced from 4.47 full/0.27 empty to 1.71/0.21. Base price changed from 3500 to 1850.
Heavier than charcoal, but it offer a better tier of cooking and the tool that use it is pretty light. A small portable plastic jerrycan for barbecues smuggled into the zone
- Jerrycan (8 uses) : Weight unchanged. Base price changed from 6500 to 2000.
Not made to be portative, but rather to be used in your base. The price has been severely nerfed because of it.
- Gas Canister (8 uses) : Weight unchanged. Base price changed from 8000 to 2200.
Not made to be portative, but rather to be used in your base. The price has been severely nerfed because of it.
Have fun hiking in the zone, and be truly independent from traders for a long time without being packed like a mule with almost 3 kg of charcoal in your backpack.
It may make cooked meat more profitable to sell, but you would deserve it since you risked your life killing that mutant.
Compatibility :
- Made for Anomaly 1.5.1
- The mod touch the items_tools.ltx (camping) and the items_cooking.ltx (cooking) files. You can erase the related file if you don't want its modifications.
- It does not affect Trader Overhaul.
- It does not affect Arszi's campfire roasting.
- It does not affect Fillable Canteen.
- It works with FAMINE as long as you install Cooking & Camping Rebalanced on top of it. Cooking gear will have the values listed above.
- There's a conflict with GCRO, with its "Toolkits can be used as a vice" addon. A patch is provided. The load order doesn't matter as long as this patch is installed above both mods.
It is safe to install and uninstall mid-save.
Update 1.1 : Published the right version with the right values.

Compatible with FAMINE ?
It also use items_cooking.ltx, which would only affect the price & weight of cooking gear. You can safely put this mod on top of it since you wish to apply those changes.
Everything else will be still untouched.
Thanks
Great mod! I just got the chef's notes from Spirit, so this should come in handy.
One thing I noticed- the actual changes seem to be different from what's in the description. For instance, the kerosene's price is still 3500, and the weight is 2.20/0.20.
That's because I'm inattentive and I published the wrong version~
I will push on an update asap with the right values as shown in the description.
EDIT : Done
Awesome!
The idea is very good. I, myself, have a personal .ltx page where I changed lots of values of cooking ingame. We have common ground in the idea that, the way it was, cooking is costly and time-consuming. Without any modifications, it's better to just buy regular food at traders than to cook.
If this was DLTX, it would be just perfect, since it wouldn't be able to conflict with anything else!
I need to study how DLTX works since i'm still inexperienced. If I succeed, I'll definitely do mods that use it.
The creator of DLTX made a tool to aid in creating DLTX mods, it's even capable of converting conventional mods to DLTX, though it's CLI only and it needs for all the vanilla .ltx files to be extracted. I could upload a little script I made to make it easier.

I think you should change cooked food bonuses

nvm i sort it out
hey how do you install this?
So I just did a bit of tent testing, here's what I found:
You can survive an Emission if you are under a tent, don't even need to sleep!
Your companions will NOT survive, even if one is under the tent with you =[
If you sleep they survive
не совместим с этим модом - Moddb.com , не могли бы вы сделать пач !?
Amazing mod. Thank you so much.
Hey, for some reason when I try to install this using MO2 it doesn't work. Does anyone know how to get it to work please? I put it higher in my load order etc, didn't work, I'm kinda stuck lol
