This mod revises the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. movement style, shaping it into the style of movement that can be found in the Counter Strike: Global Offensive game. In addition to this, players' use of weaponry has also been replicated from the latter game and into the former. Allow me to explain further...
EDIT (07/04/2022): This addon is no longer being worked on as I am pursuing other S.T.A.L.K.E.R. projects and mods for other games, though elements of this mod may be used in any future projects that I work on.
This mod completely changes the movement style and speed of the player character. This does not affect the game's NPC characters, so you won't have to worry about them moving as if they were skating on ice. I still feel that any potential flaws (if any) could be highlighted if I was to publish it, hence my final decision to make this mod available to this creative community. Additional information on this mod can be found below...
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
- This mod is only compatible with installations of Call of Chernobyl that utilize AO3.
- This mod should be moderately functional in terms of it's compatibility with other mods. However, if there are any issues, please feel free to notify me.
GAMEPLAY CHANGES:
- The player is unable to sprint; instead, their movement speed has been changed from the default jog to a slow sprint. This will make the player's "walking" pace faster than usual.
- The player is unable to aim with most weapons, with the exception of most scoped weapons (i.e. sniper rifles). As a result of the changes in the .ltx files for most of the weapons, attachable scopes have been made redundant, leaving them to either be used as a source of income or a vanity item for your ranged weapons. If requested, I may change this - however, it is possible to change the "zoom_enabled" string from "false" to "true", and vice versa. I have been using a free program called "TeXworks" to edit these files.
- The player's jump height has met a slight increase, allowing for greater manoeuvrability for those intense gunfights.
- In most circumstances, the player may have problems with those long range gunfights. In one such scenario, the player could either try to acquire and/or utilize some form of long range weaponry, or they could crouch and fire for increased accuracy.
INSTALLATION:
1. Extract it, then copy the gamedata folder and use it to overwrite your current gamedata folder. Remember to back your files up!
2. Remember to have fun with it! Please tell me about your experiences with this mod, and let me know if there are any ways that I can improve it.
cool, but... why?
some people might prefer it this way. variety is the spice of life. still i won't use this either. but thanks for sharing anyway. =)
As evidenced in one of my replies to a comment on my previous CS:GO Movement Revamp Mod, I had simply found out an easy way to replicate the movement style that can be found in CS:GO via changing a few of the actor.ltx values. The lack of difficulty that I had encountered in doing so had led to me making a version of this mod that is compatible for AO3, with my first being only compatible with STCoP.
I may turn towards making another version of this mod for the OWR weapons pack, though I'd have to set this aside from the project that I am currently working on.
This is not Vodka.
wat
To install it, download the file above. Once that's done, you must use a program called WinRAR (or any equivalent software) to extract the folder that you have downloaded into another specified location (i.e. your desktop, downloads folder, etc.). This would make the downloaded file usable.
From there, navigate around the folder that you have just downloaded from here up until you see a folder called "gamedata". Copy that folder and paste it over your Call of Chernobyl gamedata folder; remember to keep a copy of your Call of Chernobyl folder as a backup before installing this mod.
Once you have pasted the new gamedata folder over the old one, simply start up your Call of Chernobyl game and start playing; the mod will be there.
Was this helpful? Did you need help with installing this mod, or was it something else that you needed help with?
CS:GO runs on small maps, stalker doesn't. Kinda gets boring as **** to powerwalk trough the zone. Should really add sprint, might use the mod
