This is a replacement of the game's level soundtrack with some chill songs. More info in the description.
I enjoy the normal soundtrack, but I found myself oftentimes turning off the ambience or just listening to the radio in-game. In my YouTube feed there were some videos by AliasMuse, where he plays Escape from Tarkov with chill beats. I tried it out with a radio playlist and found that it was really enjoyable, but the radio has its downsides (needs to be turned on every save, will be interrupted by emissions, etc).
So I decided to replace the actual soundtrack of levels with some chill music. Overall, there are about 15-17 chill music tracks in game, chosen mainly from the songs used in Muse's videos.
Note, these songs only replace level tracks. Main menu tracks and combat tracks aren't replaced, nor are radio songs.
Just drop the gamedata folder into your install. It shouldn't overwrite anything unless you have a music mod. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to tell me if there are any bugs or issues.
Thanks to AliasMuse, Nekousagi, and the music creators themselves, as well as the Anomaly team.
v1.1- Added a few new songs, and by demand the songs will now play wherever you go. No more restrictions based on time or location, all songs are shared across the board. This means that, regardless of where you are, any songs can play. Also, if anyone has any ideas for music to be added, feel free to write them in the comments.
Thanks to Nekousagi for the addon that allows shuffled music. I integrated it into the mod and I figure it's fair use, but if he has an issue with his addon being used as a basis then I'll likely take it down. I'm new to modding so I don't know the ins and outs of what you are and aren't allowed to use from other mods, and he hasn't responded to my queries.
Ima try this out really wish there were something like this for dead air tho
I don't really play Dead Air, so I didn't make one. In the future I might though, since I think it's largely a similar process.
Alright, I've decided to attempt to make a Dead Air version. Gotta install it again, so it might take a few days.
I can't guarantee the shuffle will work, but I'll see about getting the whole mod up for the game/overhaul mod. No promises though.
oh ****,Alias fan too? damn. imma get this one
Hi; That's a good idea !
I don't use ambiance but like walking with the radio, and the radio has it downsides indeed.
Apparently the game have it's shuffle restricted, playing soundtracks depending on some circonstances, is it still the case or do they play randomly ? (At first I was thinking of adding also the addon that scrap those restriction but they don't seems compatible reading their description ^^)
Anyway, I'll test this out today ! Thanks =)
I don't know, to be honest. When I play it played most songs pretty regularly, but I didn't change any shuffling (didn't even know about it before).
If you could link the addon that disables that, I could add a compatibility patch or something.
Damn, I havn't been notified of your answer...
But seeing your new update, seems you figured out ^^
I tested, good choices of tracks =)
The only downsight I have is the vanilla Anomaly heartbeat, since I use the Dynamic option to stop the music in combat; But I think I know how to get rid of it. So after all, I like it ! I'll stick that way, thanks !
Vanilla heartbeat? I don't know what you mean.
If you mean that combat music is the same, I haven't changed any of those tracks. I thought about it, but I don't really have any good ideas for chill combat tracks.
If you just want the chill music and no combat music, there's an option for that in the game menu (to turn off combat music). If you have any ideas for songs that could replace combat tracks, I'd be happy to hear em.
Yeah there is a heartbeat in combat, but I know it has nothing to do with the addon, it's "vanilla".
The thing is: Or I remove entierly the music, wich I was doing befor; Or I add your addon, but without the dynamic option so it will play regardless of combat; Or I use dynamic option, and then I got the heartbeat instead of nothing in combat. (I don't find that combat music option ?)
But I think I know what to do, I'll simply replace every combat track with the one that as the less sound, I saw at least one that is almost silent. And then everything will be perfect =3 (I don't see any reason it wouldn't work ^^ Guess I'll came back to say ^^)
Ah, I see. I didn't realize you wanted no music during combat. That isn't an option in the menu as far as I know. Well, at least you got it all figured out, though. Just replacing the tracks with silent tracks should make it so the music stops during combat and resumes out of it. It should give you what you're looking for.
Good luck, hope you enjoy the mod.
Yep it works as intended !
It's nice, those tracks you choose are really pleasing.
I find the game's way to decide if I'm in combat or not being sometimes a bit arbitrary ^^ But that's nitpicking, and has to do with the game iself and not the addon. So I'll keep it that way, nice one thanks =)
Lo fi beats to get mauled / dismembered to
Moddb.com This mod has a file that removes level restrictions on music. If you want to review it and then make one for your own, I think it could really go well with this mod.
As it stands however, I now have a reason to have music on.
I'm definitely considering it, especially since it'd allow me to add more songs (there were some that didn't make the cut, as this was my first mod and I wanted to be sure the game would run the songs smoothly).
I'm currently working on an artifact mod, but once that's done I'll come back to this one. Shouldn't be too long.
Shuffle's been added.
Excellent update. 10/10, best music mod presently out.
