This mod gets rid of Sparx's arms and teeth and gives him completely new eyes in order to better resemble the googley-eyed Muppet look of the model used in the original PS1 versions of Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon.
12-13-20 UPDATE: I fixed an issue where Sparx's pupils clip through his eyes when he is blue or green. However, I had to do this by simply removing his damaged animations where he gets droopier with each color he changes. But since my Sparx model here has a permanent smile frozen on his face, those animations always looked a little off on him anyways. And, uh, those animations didn't exist in the PS1 games so that makes it okay to remove them because nostalgia or something.
Because of the way I replaced the animations, using this mod together with my Omniswapper will mess up one of Sparx's arms on the alternate skins.
12-2-20 UPDATE: Sparx's eyes no longer require a seperate pak to animate.
HOW TO INSTALL:
Right click Reignited in your Steam library and open file location.
Create a folder called ~mods at Steam > steamapps > common > Spyro Reignited Trilogy > Falcon > Content > Paks > ~mods
Place these paks inside the ~mods folder.
You can create subfolders inside the ~mods folder to keep things organized. But bear in mind all mod paks in the ~mods folder will be applied in alphanumeric order regardless of their order inside any subfolders.
This doesn't really apply to my Sparx mod here, but in some cases the alphanumeric order of the pak files is important to my mods, so I'd suggest you generally don't rename any mods you get from me.
Of the two paks in this zip file, the Mesh pak changes Sparx's mesh, while the UI one changes Sparx's UI icons and his wooden signs.
I didn't make 4k versions of the classic Sparx UI icons because I'm lazy.
ABOUT THIS MOD:
Ever since Sparx's new Reignited design was announced, some Spyro fans, including myself, have been unhappy with it. In the PS1 trilogy, Sparx had a different design in the first game compared to the second and third game, and Toys for Bob seem to have used that original design as their primary inspiration, whereas fans like myself prefer Sparx's second design.
Shortly after Reignited came to Steam, a Spyro fan named Cyreides made a mod that removed Sparx's teeth and arms from his Reignited design. One of Reignited's character artists, Nikolas Kole, complained about this mod on Twitter but quickly apologized and deleted the Tweet. Cyreides has been the target of harassment from Activision before due to making a Spyro fan game. The practice of large game corporations taking legal action against small fan creators is disgusting behavior in my opinion. Cyreides is a really great person and anyone who is a fan of Spyro should check out Zera.
In my opinion, Spyro does not "belong" to Activison or the artists Activison put in charge of making Reignited. Spyro belongs to anyone and everyone who is a fan of him, just like all fictional characters do. Activison may have the legal right to go after fan content creators, but they don't have the moral right as far as I'm concerned.
Some Reignited fans have complained that making mods that alter the Reignited designs is "disrespectful" to the artists at Toys for Bob. It is never my intention to disrespect anyone with any of the mods I make, but if any Reignited artists choose to take offence anyways, I don't care and will continue to make my mods how I want to. The Spyro games have always meant a lot to me, and I deeply enjoy being able to put my own creative spin on them. I plan to mod Reignited as my hobby for the rest of my life, unless Activison takes legal action against me, which I doubt they will since the existance of mods encourages people to buy the game.
I had previously made "up-SCALE-ed" mods that took Spyro and Sparx's PS1 models and upscaled them to HD quality. However, those mods had a lot of problems when it came to rigging them onto the Reignited skeletons, and I've also gotten a lot better at 3D modeling since then, and so I made this new Sparx mod. The old "up-SCALE-d" Sparx had strange shading on the edges of his mouth, and his body clipped through his head during some animations. This new model fixes those issues at the cost of no longer being *exactly* the same shape as the PS1 model.
I hope people enjoy this mod!
