Instructions: 1- Make sure that you have OpenAL installed (link below). 2- Unzip the four .dlls (wrap_oal, xrSound, OpenAL32 and soft_oal) to the "bin" folder of Call of Chernobyl mod (make a backup first). Start up the game and there should be a new sound device showing up in the sound settings menu, called "DirectSound". 3- Select that, enable EAX and restart the game. Enjoy surround sound.
I installed it like was written. In menu is this new sound device, but in game I still have stereo.
Mmm interesting. do you have OpenAL installed ?
Openal.org
I install this and no difference.
What is your system spec (including sound card and its driver, headphone and OS) ? And which games do you play with surround sound enabled ? Note that surround in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. must be tested in game, the sound card driver may not detect/display it as 5.1, but in game you will easily notice the difference between stereo and surround.
Intel i3-3210 CPU 3,20GHz
12GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Gainward Geforce GTX 1060 6GB drivers 10.18.13.6881
C-Media PCI audio device drivers 6.12.8.1737
I play with surround War Thunder, GTA V and here is all fine. But I stalker only front speakers work. In menu look all alright.
Ok, check if your sound output is set to 7.1, if it is configure it to 5.1 only.
7.1? I have 5.1 system and then I have it set at this. In description is written, that this should be 5.1 sound.
Yes i know what the description says, but some setups may not provide surround sound when running S.T.A.L.K.E.R. if 7.1 is enabled, only 5.1.
It seems that your audio driver/card doesn't support OpenAL, making not possible to experience surround sound running the game.
Surround sound in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is achieved by OpenAL, without it in fact the only option is stereo.
No archive found... with Winrar.
I downloaded your 5.1 Surround Add on, 4 or 5 times, and the same thing... error
Someone have this problem ?
Mmm, i've just checked it, the download seems to be ok, a 472Kb .zip with fours .dlls and one readme.txt files.
Nicely done. Works nicely with my old set of 5.1 speakers.
Thanks.
Is there any sense to install this addon when playing with headphones?
I mean will there be any difference?
5.1 speakers surround is nice and all, but what about the EAX enabled EFX ?
You know? The reverb and echoes?... The when you shoot in the tunnel vs when you shoot in the open area kinda thing? I remember it was kind of working in the Shoc, long time ago.
Everybody cares about surround, but nobody even mentiones reverb, how so?
Couldnt agree more my friend.
It all doesnt makes sense if you dont have feeling of space so wet sound of reverb is a must in certain areas.
i Wonder if this would work on Com, Call of Misery
