Description

This is a slightly modified version of Sgt. Marks IV's Brutal Doom v19, created and tweaked some time ago by me, just for fun and also for trying to improve some things that are missing in the original mod. Note that you DON'T have to load this with original Brutal Doom file! For the main list of changes, read the description below.

HEXERETICDOOM!!! Yeah, I like this version. It gave me some nice ideas to use in my Sub-Mod! :)

For those who haven't played this, is a slightly better version of Brutal Doom V19, without tea-bagging Sergeant_Mark_IV's code.

V14 is going to be an extreme version... Especially now with the ultra-marines! :D

Thanks for your feedback!

Sorry for saying "slightly". I had no idea what that word meant back then!

It is a MUCH better version of Brutal Doom V19. Don't miss this!

Can anyone please tell me how you get it where whenever you look up or down, it stays normal? Because for me, whenever I play Brutal Doom, and I look up or down, the FoV goes crazy, and the skybox seems to mess up as well.

you're running on software mode. go into display settings and looks for something that mentions software mode and toggle it.

THANK YOU FOR EXISTING.

GOD, I was so annoyed when the weapon sprites were changed back to the normal ones, and the badass MP40 toting Nazis were replaced with the squishy Smurfs Nazis.

By the way, where can I find that HUD in the video? It looks familiar, yet there are some differences...

Thanks to you for playing BDEE! ;)

Well, the HUD is a patched version of NC HUD by Blue Shadow, you can find and download it here:

Well... What the hell! I'll download it... Gives me something to tinker with while Quaker430 finishes up with his thing...
Seen the trailer before though, looks good, I'll give you that much. Though a blind dude saying something looks good is somewhat of an oxy, don't you think? lol

I still prefer 19, just saying.

Doesn't mean I love how there's more ammo. And why not BURN SOME MORE!!!

I found a bug though, the Chainsaw Fire changes the sprite making it look like it's full of green blood, then back to no blood or red blood. What's up with that?

That 'bug' is a small issue of Endless123's original addon. Might fix it in BDEE v19b if it's possible...

I LOVE this add-on, but I was wondering if I'm able to use this along with another add-on or 2? Because I want to use a different visor style while playing this Enhanced Edition. Is that possible? If so, how would I do that?

a hud mod will not conflict with a gameplay. Just load whatever it is right along with it.

Of course you can, if the addon is fully compatible with Brutal Doom.

For loading several addons with ZDoom, there are multiple ways to do it, so I recommend you read this:

Zdoom.org

Personally I prefer the shortcut mode, but perhaps the easiest way is using a launcher, like ZDL...

I tried following the instructions, but I keep getting this message on the Zandronum launcher:

Execution could not continue.

Script error, "zdoom.pk3:language.enu" line 1610:
Expected '=', got 'ifgame'.

Zandronum? Oh, that's the main problem. NC HUD is not compatible with Zandronum, only with ZDoom or GZDoom...

I thought ZDoom was Zandronum...

Zandronum is based in an old ZDoom build (2.3.0 or 2.4.0, not sure) like the abandoned Skulltag, built with multiplayer purposes, and actually it's not compatible with some newer scripts like the recent versions of ZDoom or GZDoom.

I recommend you use GZDoom, it's like Zandronum but including more new and interesting features. GZDoom 1.8.06 is the one I am actually using, and until to date works like a charm:

Well, for getting it to work with no problems, you must run the game and the HUD files in this order, preferably with a shortcut:

BRUTALV19EE.PK3
NC_CUSTOM_HUD.PK3
NCHUD_BD.PK3

If you load these files in that order, you shouldn't have got any problem...

Hope you resolve it! ;)

Nope, nothing's working. I guess I'll just stick with Zandronum, considering I'm able to launch it in Hardware mode, which allows me to look up and down without the FOV freaking out.

Please excuse me if I'm wrong but I think that you don't understand what we are saying or you are kidding.

1; Download GZDoom.
2; Install it.
3; Drag BRUTALV19EE.pk3 and hold the CTRL button and drag NC_CUSTOM_HUD.PK3 and NCHUD_BD.PK3 all together.
4; Throw them onto GZDoom.exe
5; If it shows in Software mode, bring your console and type "VID_RENDERER 1". Restart GZDoom.
6; You are done! You can also set your FOV by bringing up the console and type "FOV (Insert Number Here)" (Without parenthesis).

Hope this solves your problem! ;)

ah, ok, apparently I was missing the NC_CUSTUM_HUD.PK3 (for some reason, it only downloaded the NCHUD_BD.PK3). And I was never told to actually drag the files over on top of the GZDoom.exe, the website just told me to add things to the .ini. But, I got it working now, thank you for your help :D

are you saying we can run several mods atthe same time? holding CTRL down simply copies and i don't know :(

Drag the file you want to use then HOLD the CTRL button and drag as many files as you want. Since you've dragged them, throw them onto GZDoom.exe.

Before I begin, I would like to apologize in advance for my rude language:

What the **** do you mean? I have read multiple comments that read the exact same way as yours, and I don't know if maybe I missed something because I wasn't even alive when DOS was a big thing. You say to 'drag' the file, 'hold ctrl', and 'drag again', and then to 'throw' it into GZDoom.

I understand the throwing part, and this is what I think you mean: I click on one file, press and hold ctrl, click on the other two, then click and drag them, still holding ctrl, to GZDoom until it gives me the option to run. However, after I run, I get 4 errors related to NoPull, and get ejected back to desktop. Its even worse if I use the .ini file.

So I ask you, please, to just explain what your terms mean, because this is very frustrating.

Sorry you didn't like Shooting Chainsaw. :(

I found it pretty original, like Squall's Gunblade in FFVIII...

Well, might find a alternative for BDEE v19b, but for now I can't promise anything...

Reply Good karma+2 votes

I would think it'd be original too... if it had a barrel and some ammo. It just seems more like a joke weapon... a cheat, really. I could just use it through most of the game, kill all of the smaller enemies with it, and not worry about it using ammo. For me, the point of Brutal Doom is to give a more realistic approach to Doom. The Shooting Chainsaw takes away from that... for me, that is. Unlimited ammo, long range, it unbalances the awesomeness of the chainsaw.

I'm really sorry if it sounds like I'm bashing the Shooting Chainsaw. I can see how you thought it was original... if you do decide to keep it, maybe you should have it use ammo and have a reload function, or keep it as is, but separate from the rest of BDEE v19b.

I still love this mod. :) Keep up the awesomeness! :D

I like this idea. The more vanilla the better we need to stick to the best additions as much as possible. That said I will be modding this BDee19g ripping stuff out making a few things more classic yet keeping the gameplay elements I feel are more balanced.

Fourth; Some people prefer this addon. The best sound effects imo are original doom, psx doom and the new shotgun sound from brutal doom. They're neat. Brutal doom reminds me of resident evil mixed with original reload sound or close to it anyway I much prefer a resident evil or doom sounding shotgun in video games its neat.
