Thank you, getting into a gunfight actually feels like a risk worth taking now.

It's not ridiculous to drop little ammo. This is called "Increasing Difficulty", doing tasks, selling weapon parts and costumes, before turning the first day into the game you can get a maximum of 150 Ak bullets and any other weapon. Remember that in Anomaly 99% of the time, a right shot is a grounded target.

But it's artificially increasing difficulty; which as the author said breaks immersion. There's already the task of constantly maintaining weapons, so they don't fail at crucial moments.

Nailed it. there are better ways to increase difficulty that are not artificial

In my experience with my mod, increasing the ammo count even by 20 makes the game much easier, but with conditions and values like these it's more of a cheat mod than anything

Selling weapon parts and costume parts (as the armor is too damaged to sell in vanilla) to trade for 10 rounds of ammo after you just spent 9 killing enemies? Yeah, I guess that works, unless you run into some dogs and need to start over. The problem with this is it basically gets rid of looting and turns the game into a buying system. That's not fun IMO.

I didn't say the vanilla values are the best, but it's still possible to beat the entire game with them

You can also beat the game if the enemies had 100x more health. So does that mean they should have 100x more health? No.

That is not difficulty that's tedious gameplay. If you want artificial difficulty go play Misery Mod.

There's already like 3 addons that specifically do this one thing tho and while I commend your effort having enemies drop 30-90 bullets is a tad on the ridiculous side. Every time you fight a group of enemy stalkers you're going to fight at least 3 of them. That's a minimum of 90 rounds you walk away with up to 270. That's not realistic or immersive either.

If I assume correctly, he must have copied my file and changed the values to a ludicrous amount, but if you understand how the ammo is distributed, it's not 100% and the weapon usually has to be in the inventory of a dead stalker, which isn't a whole lot of the time, but enough

30-90 bullets is 1-3 standard mags. Hardly a ridiculous amount for a person to carry. 100 rounds of pistol ammo is one little cardboard box you can stick in a pocket. Much of that ammo will be bad/old and/or for guns you don't have. I fail to see how it's unrealistic to get $5-$10 of ammo on a dead guy. It's probably the minimum amount you'd bring to a 1 hour session at a shooting range and less than you'd carry as a soldier.

You're right, realistically most military personal carry 6+1 magazines so choosing to use the word realistic was incorrect on my part. There's this thing in video games where you have to choose realism vs game balance. Sure, Anomaly is a tad on the hard side when you're first starting out but one you get to mid-game you'll have more than enough ammo and money to last for the entire game. With an addon like this, that chooses realism over game balance, I'll be swimming in ammo and money from selling ammo within the first 2 hours of the game. I'll be able to buy any exosuit I want and fully upgrade just from the ammo I'll pick up off the dead bodies and IMO that ruins the balance.

Not sure what version of Anomaly you're playing, but even low end armor purchase prices are tens of thousands of rubles and ammo sells for chump change, especially the damaged/old variety you encounter at first.

Yes, I know you CAN beat anomaly on vanilla. By buying your ammo and quickloading 100 times per firefight to maximize your ammo efficiency. Do you consider quicksaving/loading (as in, non-iron man) to be cheating?

Reply Good karma+4 votes

Vyticoz - - 236 comments

Personally, no. I don't really see how "save-scumming" can be considered cheating, especially when it gives you a loading screen tip that says "Don't feel guilty about pressing F9 when things go south" The game and devs encourage save-scumming it seems. lol But that's just my opinion I guess. Either way, in my current playthrough I'm halfway thru the SiN story arc and I have over 500 good condition rounds for most weapons and over 200 for the rare calibers and over 700k RU without using any addon that boosts ammo drops or the economy. It's really not that hard to do once you get your momentum going.

It's just a different way of looking at it. I realize vanilla is winnable. I just think giving more realistic loot and doing less save scumming is a better approach to game balance than giving unrealistically low amounts of loot that forces players to save scum even more.

I understand where you're coming from, and I did beat Anomaly with vanilla values, playing freedom. Was it any easier mid-game and did I have enough money for ammo? No. Most money was spent keeping weapons in mint condition and ammo is waaaaay too expensive. However anomaly is not suppose to be a cakewalk. I enjoyed counting all of my bullets however to say at midgame you have enough money and ammo... no. Thats where you're wrong.

In practice, all it means is you quicksave/quickload more often to get the "perfect" outcome in every/most mutant/stalker encounters rather than just playing the game. Otherwise you'll quickly end up "owing" at the end of the typical firefight.

270 rounds of ammo is a lot of weight to throw in your pack. If the player has room for it I see absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to make that decision for themselves. Balance the carry weights, not the ammo drops.

Although my PC is still not back at 100% (thus preventing me into getting into S.T.A.L.K.E.R./Skyrim, etc. once again due to their very high memory-intensive nature, thus with the two conditions my PC has it will just make it run completely blocky, and that's just putting it lightly... DX As such, can't wait until my PC gets fixed and I can finally enjoy getting back into those aforementioned titles once more... ^-^ ) I still VERY much appreciate you making this addon, thank you SOOOOO much for making this as I know from previous S.T.A.L.K.E.R. firefight experiences how utterly depressing it is to regularly fight off Merc/Monolith groups, only to get crap loot afterwards (poor loot from bandits/low-tier hostile Stalkers is to be expected), as such I know that feeling all too well... DX As such, this REALLY helps alleviate that. :3

Didn't even realize there was a recent hotfix. I'll take a look at it. Most likely it's an easy fix provided it's not something wrong with the hotfix itself. Hopefully just a small incompatibility issue.

They are based on rank. Any rank soldier can drop equipment as LOW as 5% condition, but only an expert can drop an 89% gun or armor. Basically, equipment drops are on a scale. The bottom of the range is 5% for all ranks. The UPPER number of the range is higher as rank grows. A legend char can technically drop a 99% piece of armor, like an exo, though this is not particularly likely.

Intended that all other loot items are at 0, 0 ?

Enemies won't really drop food, repair kits, junk items, etc with your config.
Just ammo, weapons and armor.

I noticed this too. Was wondering.

Changed all the "0, 0" ones to "0, 1". Hopefully this will make it as normal. I assume that if the RNG hits something like 0.71 the items won't spawn and that only if it hits 1 will they spawn. Not really sure. Going to experiment.

JESUS CHRIST! Misterkat, I'd like to thank you from the bottom of my soul for this addon!

You see, personally I like to have the most realistic (AKA immersive) experience playing Stalker, and since from Call of Pripyat (my first Stalke game), it always bothered me that, looting a corpse of an enemy, one would find, say, five bullets. Who the heck goes to a battlefield with only five bullets in the pockets??? Since from my first game, this was a turndown for me, for how hardly believable it always was.

Your mod game to correct that. Now, one can find himself role-playing a little more in an actual warzone.

I was reading some of your critics on chat, and I'd say to pay them no mind. For some people, immersion only works if it's against the player, regardless of the actual trueness of the content of the mod.

Indeed. There are some addons that I believe are fundamental for a true immersive play. I'd add yours among them.

Thank you for your work!

Ps.: I'm using version 1.5, with hotfix 8 and the 1.4 update, with Generic Mod Enabler, version 2.6.0.157. Also, important to note, I'm using other several mods. Almost thirty, I believe, if not more. Your mod worked fine with all of them.

THANK YOU MISTERKAT!

im with GabeCPB0 on this. Pay no mind to the critics who say this may be cheating to try and dissuade others from using it.

You guys are all discussing a mod realism here. And Looting dead bodies, and finding only 5 bullets. I just murdered the entire phantom guard, used up 12 mags and at least 20-30 grenades to kill them all. Only to pick up a ridiculous 2-4 mags of 556 from 12-15 dead corpses. That is plain gamey and unrealistic. Monolith Most loyal guards only carry 2 mags?? Yeah sure.

This addon is great, You can modify the # yourself, i have used your basis for my own in between version. And now i find at least 1 mag on a corpse, So I can actually use different guns throughout my zone travels and ditch em. I used Diffchecker you can google it, its a great website, and you can compare other mods to this version and create your own.

Sometimes when you're just really good at STALKER you need some more difficulty. When 15 fully decked out monolith with g36s and m4s show up out of nowhere and pin you down with full minutes of uninterrupted full auto fire and you drop them all with one head shot sometimes you need the extra challenge of looting their corpses only to find a m4 with 8% condition, broken springs and cracked barrels as well as 1 mag with 3 bullets in it.

The total lack of medical supplies, field cutlery, food and water in exchange for the broken watch and porno mag just adds to the immersion anyway.

In fact, you can improve the difficulty by using magazine mod instead of finding less ammunition
