The series feels like its still going strong even with some bad points.
While the characters seem stronger than before (with decent dialogue and good facial animations), the story feels move contrived then ever. In the last game I was willing to let it slide that the colony was able to recreate a alien marker (sophisticated alien technology of which has a genetic/artificial construct with a alien intelligence?), Clarke's role is shoe horned in, somewhat contrived.
Storyline goes into comical routes that I won't spoil here. It like previous games mostly relies on mystery to make the story interesting but when the reveals come they are forgettable.
The aliens however are heavily improved, theres a larger number of designs that take more inspiration from the spiritual inspiration of The Thing. The crafting has taken a huge overal, before it was just upgrade certain weapons, find some blueprints to buy one. Now its create them from scratch and the variety in this is HUGE.
Theres no hallucinations or subtle sounds, Issac seems pretty cool and calm the few times crazy stuff goes on. Visceral games aren't known for horror.
While weapon customization a big plus (engineering skills put to the test) but its universal ammo system pretty much makes running out of ammo a impossibility, but then again, the standard game has was never about survival horror. I suggest Pure Survival mode.
There are co-op only levels, why are they attempting to tailor this to the casual gamer crowd? The cover based shooting that lasts about 30 minutes or so about an hour into the game is a very small part of the game but feels tact on and out of place (and a very short sequence near the end).
Its not a natural extension of the combat which was all about being tackled by aliens, curbstomping, meleeing and cutting off limbs. Here you have convenient walls to hide.
+sounds are high quality
+less linear (side missions)
So far everything I expected out of the game, not to mention the unexpected. If your a survival rpg fan this should certainly be viewed as worth your money.
10 on graphics, 10 on gameplay and 10 on replay value and it's still only in beta stage. I'm very gald to have this in my collection.
Such implementations of a TPS is fantastic - I've never encountered any games of its kind before. Playing it will also better train my brain and KDR improvements can be seen while playing other FPS (cod4, bf3). It's a buy worth every cent. To the devs, awesome work! Keep it up!
Short and sweet. Very well designed levels, with many original and creative features. The Subway level gets the cake though, really makes you feel as if you were running and gunning through a real, interconnected city.
Great work overall and a enjoyable experience for an entertaining night worth of gameplay (as I just did)
In my opinion this mod escalates Supreme Commander 2 into a very competent and visually epic RTS. I have played many mods of various games over the year, and so far this is the only one that I have eagerly checked for updates daily. Besides the result, the modders themselves obviously take great pride in their work on Revamp; you only have to look at the models they create to see there is nothing half-baked here. Keep up the good work!
Based on the web version, it looks like a fun game. Could use a button to skip tutorial. Might have been one, but I didn't find it.
I liked the web version, so I bought it for Linux. I did not realize until trying to install that it was an Adobe AIR installation. AIR is defunct, and no one has ported a later version than 2 years ago to Linux. I can usually find very good Linux games, with great support. This was severely disappointing. When your Linux install no longer functions or is installable, it isn't right to still have up the download.
I do not recommend any other Linux user downloads. I will check back. When or if this changes and becomes usable, I will change my rating.
This mod is incredible. I've lost interest in Torchlight 2 due to performance issues and such, but out of curiosity decided to try it again with Synergies.
After couple of hours of playing I'm amazed. There is so much stuff added and/or improved, for example inventory is ten times bigger. For some reason low FPS didn't bother me anymore. Two thumbs way up!
