Its got some very unique textures that reminds me of unreal. Its real slow at first, the first half I found myself paying close attention to everything. Its some station out in the desert, but soon you realize that even when there is action it doesn't seem to last long enough. By the end you get a massive amount of enemies flinged at you and find that the there is a non-ending. Which makes the experience feel like a waste after the mod started off promising.
This game is terrible. It completely destoyed all the mystery of the previous games and retconned the series to absolute crap. No explanation is given for Master Chiefs new armor, Cortana mentions changing the firmware but the dent from halo 3 is still present implying it's supposed to be the same armor. The layout and state of the forward unto dawn is also retconned, the gravity is disabled at the end of halo 3 but it's working just fine in halo 4, along with all it's weapon systems. The missions are straight-forward and feel confined, the wide open areas you might remember from halo 1-3 on missions like 'halo' and 'the ark' are gone. The Didact and Librarian from halo 3's side story now feel shallow thanks to 343. The multiplayer feels a lot like a watered down COD, and it doesn't feel nearly as smooth as reach. Where Reach ran fine halo 4 lags, and you might as well just play COD really. In my opinion, halo 4 is a complete waste of money.
A very well done masterpiece of puzzle-platform gaming. The only problem with this game is that it's short (I beat it in about one hour), but if you think games are too long nowadays, it might not be a bad thing.
Anyway, the idea of having a basketball be the equivalent of a portal gun is novel in and of itself, but this game is also incredible because of the design. The faux cardboard visuals are beautiful, and the chiptune-influenced soundtrack complements the gameplay well. The puzzles themselves are challenging, but not so challenging that you'll ever have to give up and consult a walkthrough.
So, this game may be an hour long, but it's definitely one of the best hours of gaming you'll have all year.
