Game Review by Guiboune on Mar 27th, 2012 - 4 people agree 3 people don't
for the record, THIS IS A GAME MOSTLY IDENTICAL TO HEROES OF MIGHT & MAGIC II.
the only difference I've seen is the specific factions, the specific units & some buildings..
apart from that, this is the exact same thing : turn based time system, heroes perks, heroes stats, unit recruitment, combat grid, map grid, combat system, ressources, markets, items scattered through the land, etc.
I've been told that this & heroes of might & magic are two different games, this is not true, it IS the same thing.
this is why I give this a 5. it is not a bad game, but it's really dishonest to sell this not saying it's a tribute or at least "strongly based on"

It's one of the best horror games out there, and unlike most "horror" games, you have no weapons to defend yourself. All you have is you, your lantern, and your wits.

Unity3D is one of the Most simple Game engines. Period. I thoroughly enjoy using unity and Various plug-in Such as PlayMaker Visual Scripting Plugin.
Not only is it Simple but It makes game creation fun and enjoyable.

It's a nice game and is well made, but it is very very short. If you wanted to, you could finish this game within 20 minutes easily. Considering how well made the game is, it's a shame it is so short as it was very enjoyable and I loved all the little jokes it involved.

I love how this game plays. Its like crossing Minecraft, Morrowind and Doom with a few extra bits. There's a few bugs to be ironed out as is expected during this stage of development. Things I really don't like however. This game should be priced at half this for an in development game Also at the begining of the game there's so little guidance, not even a map or a mini tutorial, just something to help you get into the game. Took me an hour and a youtube video to figure out how to actually get into the game.

Great game so far :). A key thing I like about this is the manipulation of the texts/strings. It's obviously a text based adventure so you're doing a good job with that aspect so far. Secondly, the use of image of Death popping up every now and then did bring intrigue and was used very effectivly. Lastly, the music and sound effects were brilliant and are something I'd even be interesting in downloading.

-Foreword, Gameplay and Feel-
DLC Quest has the standard side-scrolling-jumpy-puzzel gameplay we have learned to love and nourish and it feels very light and fast. But DLC Quest's focus is not on the gameplay.
-Story and Depth-
What DLC Quest is focusing on humor and wit. The storyline is the boring "save the pretty princess and beat the bad guy." But when you start the game, you can't even more left! This is where the DLC aspect comes in. You have to buy fake DLC with in game coins to further you adventure which in turn will grant you more coins which in turn will get you more DLC. Some DLC is useful but other DLC is just plain funny. A quick example off the top of my head would be the pixelated bikinis for NPCs. There are also lots of hilarious references such as the notorious troll and useless NPCs. I won't spoil the game too much though.
-Graphics and Music-
The pixelated graphics and 8-bit music accompany DLC Quest perfectly and I wouldn't have it any other way. I found myself humming to the music and admiring those pixelated bikinis... I mean art.
-Playtime and Re-playability-
This is the only section where DLC Quest starts to slip. I literally bought the game, downloaded the game, played the game, beat the game. All within around three hours. I can see battle-scarred gamers passing this game up due to lack of playtime. I did go back to try and get all the achieves which was filling but I can only say I want MOAR! Feed us Going Loud! But for such a low pricetag, it is hard to complain.
-Final Word-
So yeah, if you have some spare change lying around, you should pick up DLC Quest and while your at it, cancel your WoW subscription. In all seriousness though, thumbs up to the guys at Going Loud!

-Foreword, Gameplay and Feel-
Ancients of Ooga is the lovable generic side-scroller-jumpy-puzzle genre but it does manage to bring some new concepts to the fray. For one, your character can swallow or chew on just about anything that can be picked up. You also are able to play as more than one character by possessing them, much like Cloning Clyde. This allows somewhat elaborate puzzles but nothing too hard.
-Story and Depth-
The story of Ancients of Ooga is actually interesting. The civilization of Oogas have been enslaved by the Boolis and the Ancient God (you) is here to lead the multi-tribe revolt. So you basically go tribe to tribe and unite all the tribes. This is great and all, but very repetitive as all chapters follow an almost exact pattern. The monotony is shaken a little with cartoon humor and small cutscenes. The final chapter also felt very anti-climatic and rushed, but ah well.
-Graphics and Music-
When I first opened up Ancients of Ooga, I felt slightly baffled at the oddly constructed men who were dancing to a groovy tribal tune. But after I got used to the whole setting, I started to enjoy it. I love the oddity of the game as a whole and I can't stop humming the main theme. It is very original (to the extent of my knowledge) but many people have been thrown off by the oddity. Either way, the graphics and music of Ancients Ooga happily surprised me.
-Playtime and Re-playability-
Ancients of Ooga is a pretty long game but once you are done, you are pretty much done. There isn't any multi-player or anything of that sort. Ancients of Ooga does have collectable bones that are hidden in every level but that is about it.
-Final Word-
We must remember that Ancients of Ooga is a bit old now so cut it some slack. Regardless, Ancients of Ooga is definitely worth playing and I thank Ninja Bee for the experience.

Total awesome game. Simply Put. A LOT of replay value. Not that i have ever finished the game. That is a good thing about it since i gcan usally finish games in a month or so.. have been playing this since it came out. Just add a mod when you might be getting bored, then WHAM its just gets better. Love the medival style combat. DO NOT like the guns and all that crap. That's why i stick with Warband and NOT fire and Sword.
