DUKE NUKEM!!! That was my first non educational game I bought, when I was only 8. :)
"Gordon Freeman in the flesh"... No doubt Gordon. I just like the look of the character and his coolness. He doesn't make much noise, doesn't talk a lot but he has brains and is a tough guy. And he belongs to one of the games which impressed me the most.
Second choice would be Duke Nukem. I just love his dirty jokes... "Your face, your ***... where's the difference" ^_^

What I love at Gordon is his simplicity. He's not a man of big noise. He's a brains man not a big mouth rambo although I like them at points too but he just impresses me with his simple nature. And perhaps too because he does not give you his thoughts but let's you have your own whilst playing him. One thing that might get lost in HL2 (yes... I doubt Gordon in HL2 will be any match for Gordon in HL, I'm conviced thy messed it up).
BTW... the character that I really would like to be is not mentioned here... Odjin ;=)
