Ok, without a doubt the key to a mod has gotta be gameplay. I say this ignorantly however, because usually what attracts me to scope out a mod is its visuals. Visuals can however easily be enhanced where-as gameplay cannot, I mean sorry to bring in CS :flame: but since v4.0 or so when it established itself as pretty much what it is now, despite many additions to improve gameplay honestly has anything really changed? :?
Gameplay is what keeps you coming back for more, it it is fun, you'll play it.. I mean people still play HL DM and it looks horrible when compared with some of the other offerings. So yeah, I love a big motha GUN, to wield :devious: but that is only initial excitement, it is gameplay that carries a mod!
how can one possibly get bored of just killing everything eheh :) I guess it is a lil unfair having gameplay in the mix, cos it'll obviously win, because good gameplay is basically created through a culmination of good maps, good models, good pixie fairy's, AI etc... so it is prolly to broada term to include in this poll
Still be interesting to see what spans out as a popular option
hey, you seem to forget creativity, or do you want to see another six thousand realism cs-like mods..? my vote is creativity, but i think it all must work nicely together, gamplay, creativity, maps and weapons and everything... except the big ******* murder weapons which destroy every good gameplay...
Gameplay all the way. That's where games that have big weapons fail, people get bored of being blown up. Like Counter-Strike, you get tired of dying. Half-Life has excellent gameplay, but that's backed up by being so creative and having such a good storyline. Graphics in HL aren't the best, but gameplay is so good nobody cares. Worms (the original) was all in 2D pixellated graphics (300x200, or something like that) but the gameplay was brilliant! Everyone loves worms!
Worms does work a real treat. I remember the first time i played worms 2 with the big fat cartoonish worms.... At first I thought it was a lil ghey, but it is gameplay that rocks and well i got used to and feel in love with the cartoonish graphics

100% with you mate!! Nothing is more depressing than a mod which is basically reguritating another mods ideas and generally making them worse. Thats kinda why gameplay cannot really lose cos essentially good gameplay is brought about by a twist on the normal way of doing something - which is just another way of saying creativity.
I can't agree with anyone of you really :)
Creativity is the most important thing and I can say that I'm sure about that.
If there is no creativity, there is no good gameplay, no big weapons, no good maps, etc.
You should have thought about that before you started that poll ;)
Creativity just is the most important thing to make a unique/fun mod. It's a fact :)
What creates good gameplay is creativity, good weapons, good maps, and good AI, without these a game is nothing. Look at single player, if the story line is crappy and boring who wants to keep playing it if there isnt something building up in the plot. Take a game like CS and turn it into single player, if there is no real plot involved in a single player game then the single player gets boring. Multiplayer and single player need different aspects to be good games.
Thats all you need, is big arsed weapons, take serious sam for instance, thats hell fun, cuz it has big arsed weapons, big arsed enemies, and lots of em, :D
Creativity is the main point of a good mod....additional good locking models, a great balancing and without doubts......NOT ANOTHER CS-CLONE.....there are too many out there
so look forward to Global WarZonE

With creativity, you'll create a Mod with Big Friggin Weapons, at least a little bit of Realism (I hate those weapons that looks like a pistol, and can shot giant rockets... Or rocket that enters water areas, and nothing happens...) and an awesome Gameplay (maybe not so good, but at least original)
only a perfect combination in which everything is perfect can make a good mod, and also depends on what you are making, if its a singleplay mod the maps will be more important then the guns mostly, while in multiplay the weapons are very important too
and gameplay is everywhere, a map has gameplay, weapons got gameplay, every little part has its own gameplay element, and to get to a good overal gameplay, you first need to have good gameplay on all those smaller things, so that means you need good maps with good weapons first :)
so everything needs to be good :)
yee haa, first post ;)

of course game play with the best wepons, is nothing, though game play sits on the mappers, and texture artists sholders

nothing like a pixie rogue to help ya out by disarming traps and picklocking chests/doors like in NWN...
After finally trying WormsHL, I must say it loud: GAMEPLAY
I never really bothered cranking up that mod.. maybe if it were added to the modDB i'd pay more attention to it ;)
Atmosphere is also a key. For me at least.
If you did like the original Worms games, you should.
I agree with my man Intense, without gameplay what do you have?
Checkers, Solitare, Turbo mod, you get my idea!

stupid question, its obviously pixies.

Why not just slap gargoyles in addition to the pixie fairies?

Just because some thing is creative dont meen its fun, i meen having a mod were you type out school papers is orgional but fun? i doubt it.
hey, it's better than taking the CT/Terrorist stuff over and over again.
The best mods are the ones that aren't Counter Terrosism based mods bent on uber realism.
While other WWII games (besides flight sims) are good.
Intense, WE NEED A NEW POLL. This one is a month or two old!!!!!!!!!!!!
