I think SlideDB is a fantastic starting point for people who are interested in mobile gaming - if they want to develop or just download / discover new games!
I already checked it out and sneaked into some corners of the new website and - what I really need to say - you got again a great look and the "standard" DesuraNET style like on modDB/indieDB.
But I can understand that (at this time) 46% are not interested in slideDB.
To explain my point of view:
I'm not very intersted in mobile gaming. I have a smartphone and an iPod Touch, therefore I'm able to play mobile games (apps), but it's not the gaming experience I want to have.
For me is gaming more than touching on 4-6 zoll screen (and when I'm touching I cant see 1/4 of the screen <.<), it's sitting in front of a 24" screen, headset with Sourround Sound or a 5.1 surroundsound stereo and playing some "real" games. I don't want to say apps are not real games, not stunning, fascinating or compelling, they can be for people who like this sort of gaming. - But I'm not (maybe still / yet? I dont know) a person who like this sort of gaming.
For gaming I go at home, mobile games can be fun and stunning, but it's not what I need, and maybe it's the same opinion like others share here.
Just my li'l opinion why I don't play mobile games and why maybe 46% say that they are not that interested :)
Call me old fashioned, but i use a mobile phone for texting and phoning only. Not once have i *ever* used the internet or used/downloaded apps on any of my mobiles.
While I'm glad Mobile devs get more attention as a result, this feels a bit redundant with Indie DB. Maybe the DB's and Desura can improve their main features more after SlideDB gets up and running? I bet there have been a large number of feature requests.
Smart Phones really aren't good for gaming, given the lack of decent controls, aside from a select few of Indie games. Truthfully, the only other purpose we use our smart phones for other than Calling and texting, are video streaming. In my opinion, mobile gaming should be left with systems like the DS and PSP.
Might not use it for awhile, phone has such low internal memory, I won't be rooting any time soon to remove the bloatware.
Will the site see a mobile version (desura perhaps instead?), or something along those lines?
Browsing moddb is not so bad on a the smaller screens if a bit cumbersome sometimes.
Yes, it's a good idea, something was needed for the "most popular gaming platform". I hope it won't be an arbitrary thing and developers will actually use this service.
Oh! its been while since the last poll update!
We want more polls!
(buried)
Go make one yourself then.
we do need more, suggestions? oh and the URL for those wondering is www.indiedb.com
a poll about making more polls or not
To mod or not to mod?
I don't have a smartphone and I don't need one.
Best... comment... evar... and so ******* true :D (a pity there is no +10)
The only tech I need is a PC and some basic ****** cell phone that can make calls.
Amen! And I'm mostly in anyway so I just use the land line.

A PC fulfills my gaming/internet needs perfectly.

I've always thought that a mobile gaming device would be brilliant if I could plug in a controller, then I would actually consider getting one.
