I love it when you press X to get your gun from the backpack, R to reload it, S to stabilize it on the ground, then RMB to aim, and keep pushing shift to minimize the scope effect.
I enjoy both. I love complex skill games that involve button mastery, but then there are simple ones too, like instagib that continue to amuse and are real easy to get into :)
a billion feature is nice and all but it still has to be fun to play
i think if a mod has a lot of feature it needs to be totaly obvious how to use them otherwise you spend more time figureing out the controlls and less time actualy playing and that gets boring
also, generaly speeking, the more features the longer it takes to make so the longer you have to wait for release
The mod I play most, BG, requires mastery of techniques, not buttons. You also have games like enemy territory that have very simple controls and concepts but are still rather complex and take getting used to.
i don't like both kinds of maps to be honest. the 2sec ones are a waste of time of the creators. but maps with lots of run-ther-do-that are also annoying. in both cases you can't really 'work' the map.
I hate having to set up so many buttons. Its so anoying, like if i forget something, and I ask them, how do you do this? Then they say the default key that was on that command when I changed it, thus making me wanna go back to options and looking it up. I dont like memorizing things, who doesn't? I wanna learn quickly as possible and not be the noob in a game for a long time

Yeah that describes the problem I often have with games too... Especially because playing on the arrows right section of the keyboard -_-
And by the way, these are 2 types of MODs we're talking about! I remember Day of Defeat has lots of commands and stuff to bind, when I was planning em keys the first time it took me about 7 minutes I think. Although yeah, basic Half-Life & CS always get me set up in no time!
(The worst is uhh... *cough*battlefield2*COUGH*. 20 minutes. Now THAT'S a different story.)
To be honest, the mods I have had the most fun with are the total conversions, which change EVERYTHING and introduce whole new concepts / complexity.
However I am so damn busy nowadays, that something simple, fun and fast always gets me going - good old instagib! :D
second comment... WHOOHOO
anyways... i would prefer easy controles over complex commands... it tends to decrease one's response time if you flood the mod with bottons

I could have voted both... It takes 2 secs to master a mod with more buttons than I have fingers...

Actually, I can find room for both!
Just that there really are not so much complex mods...
How quickly you can click buttons or move a mouse doesn't interest me one bit. I prefer to be challenged with my mind, not reflexes. :)

not really a fair question I like simple games that require a lot to master. super smash brothers is the best example.
I like mods where there are many functions rather then mods which you know inside out in no time at all.

Dumbest poll ever.
what i think is of the gameplay that matters. who cares about the buttons if you find it fun? xP .

Complex stuff is mor better. IF you want stuff you can master in 2 seconds go paly pac man

The mod needs a good mix. Easy to learn, hard to master -> alla chess.
Just my 2 cents
For me its fine if it has many different buttons BUT, the control system has to be intuitive in order for the level of complexity to seem "fun"

simple yet complex is thee way 2 go!
a game so easy to learn can take years to master
look at tetris.
I prefer games that have a degree of complexity, but still can be learnt with relative ease. Think of The Specialists.
