The reason for being solo tends to because of the shortage of skilled people to carry out the tasks. I'd expect a lot of interesting code and no front-end if they all team up.
I do alot of the work on my projects so in some ways it's kinda almost solo i do programming and art etc. I do have a team that help out with stuff inbetween that i get stuck on etc though :D.
im also a solo-dev. its hard for me to assign jobs of a project to other people and when i see i need some different modding-aspect im interested enough to learn it by myself
Well without voice acting - No realsim in game.
Testing - Not polish games.
So i say those parts are needed aswell, even if ur right its not a direct dev thing.
i mostly do scripting, texturing, and sound development im also pretty good at 3d modeling but thats only at school... if only i had a modeling program :/
to be honest, I like working alone but sometimes I wish I had a team, so I take ages to get any progress done. I have had to learn how to model (Still beginner), I need to learn how to make textures, but at least when I have some progress done it is to my satisfaction.
Few devs so gotta do many roles :/
I wonder... what would happen if solo devs gather up in a single team?

Exactly.
event worse! ;P
Solo dev. I'd programm only, if I had a team...
I'm a solo dev because the rest of my team slacks off.
Same
Same thing, plus my team consists of 4 people :L
This. Hell, my art guy left the project after doing nothing and failed to tell me.
Same. But wutta heck is 'ROLE'?? <O.O>
same solo dev

4+ roles. I'm working on every aspect of my mods/games but I'm not a solo dev for I have a friend that helps me out with models every now and then.
I do all except modelling and texturing.
Most works I did/will ever do are small projects, so I'd rather work alone and build the game/skin/audio-track the way I see fit.
I am working on my programming and animation skills. Took ages for me to narrow it down to two tasks that I would like to focus on.
Modeller, Designer, Concept-Artist, Manager, sometimes Programmer or others :P
Sound Designer, Music Designer and Particle Effects Designer.
Mapper + Modeler + Texture Artist = Level Designer
i do everything except video editing... and programming because i cant do it, same with sound
I do voice acting and beta testing... buuuuuuut that doesn't belong anywhere in dev roles... right?
Well without voice acting - No realsim in game.
Testing - Not polish games.

I'll just quote someone elses answer "Mapper + Modeler + Texture Artist = Level Designer" . So technically 3 but ultimately 1.
If you are using custom models (eg. environment) and textures (eg. new terrain textures) to design a level, there are 3 roles :P
I solo because it allows me to develop a wide skillset. I like it because I do enjoy the challenge and the benefits of doing everything.
I map and make textures plus sounds for my maps
My status at this moment is : forever alone....
I'm really new to the modding stuff so I never upload my work since it's still to crappy...
2-3, generally because I have others handle modelling/skinning. I handle coding, mapping, writing, (does leading count?).
mapping and texture work so 2 since i work with ut 99 engine i dont have to model.
So far all I do is mapping. I'd probably do more work, if only I could model or texture
Mostly PR and level design, I have been known to try my hand at programming though.
Just not with C++. *shudders*
Aww but C++ is awesome! In my amateurish opinion :P
Nr. 1 (Animations) I practice, nr. (Compile) 2 I wanna do and nr. 3 (Modeling) I might.
i mostly do scripting, texturing, and sound development im also pretty good at 3d modeling but thats only at school... if only i had a modeling program :/
I'm so ronery,so ronery

I fly solo.
IF YO CATCH MA DRIFT
OH YEAAAAAH
I prefer to have a small + specialized + talented team.
But yep, I'm so neurotic and perfectionist.
<So if you want to do it well, do it yourself!> That's my motto. ;P
That means manage, webmastering, coding, non-organic modeling, mapping and stuff I can't ever remember.
Testing, gameplay, sounds, ideas, concepts...
For be a Developer, you must be a Player before all!
one man team here (UBX Team)
Game Research, Game Development, Game Testing. That's what I do, sometimes I get into Audio Work as well.
I do everything but the voice acting.
Solo dev!
Although people usually think I am more than one person...
I can model, texture, animate, and I can make music too...
Solo Dev
