I like my type which is mostly none of the choices listed in the poll choices however so that is y I did not vote for ne of the choices since it didn't after all include just an option say for example: "My music Muahahahahahahaha!" LMAO! :)
For written work such as design documentation or story writing I find silence works best, but fairly ambient instrumental styles work quite well, too (like Jazz, Drum and Bass, Electronica). I try to stay clear of music with lyrical content when writing as I find myself listening to the words too much and getting distracted from my work.
For Mapping not much will distract me really, but I tend to go with something with a fast-paced rhythm once the ideas are in my head, of if they're not, something a bit slower to help me work out a plan of attack.
If you get stuck on something and are lost for inspiration, try lying on your back (e.g. on your bed) with no music on. It allows your thoughts to develop more naturally as it helps put you in a more dream-like state (hence why psychiatrists get their patients to lie down on a couch before they spill their guts on all their problems).
Its actually a mix of all three for me. But fast music will generally work better unless I'm overworked, since I'm a bit hyperactive anyway. Slow music is better when having to concentrate and for writing tasks I usually have music off entirely. But I never ever listen to heavy metal while modding. That's too disturbing for me to think properly.
Back when I was still programming on a regular basis, classical music usually did it for me. The Moody Blues, Hooverphonic, Direstraits, O.A.R., Phil Collins, Mozart Master Mix, Benny Benassi, Moby, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan all also have a place in my heart as music I listened to while making Maerchen. Sometimes it took a bit more than that, so I'd load up some Tool, APC, Lordi, Nightwish, or KISS.
But mostly I prefer quiet classical pieces, or Sigur Ros / Logh -esque ambience, or Godspeed You! Black Emporer. Dead Flag Blues is a piece that any artistic creativity will blossom from, particularly down-beat art.

Sometimes music gives me inspiration but sometimes it doesn't help at all. :)
Techno and metal for me :)
I require peace and quiet to complete my work. Otherwise I just get sidetracked and tend to focus on the music rather than what I'm doing.
Faster tempos are for music I use when I go gaming. It adds the extra mL of adrenaline.
regular music is my modding music.
Dark ambient!
Mostly dark ambient, other times orchestral or electronic, depends of the mood.
all about pac for me. smooth beats with pacs legendary lyrics do the trick
Slow techno while working on my mod.
