I think it'd be awesome to get paid large amounts of money playing games competetively. Due to the success of gamers such as Fatal1ty, what with his own brand of gaming hardware, I think that's a pretty sweet gig. :)

I personally am not watching the CPL, although I will download the videos after it's done.

noone cares about football or baseball here either, but its still sports.
just because its not on tv, it doesnt mean its not a sport.

but tbh, esports is something totally different from "normal" sports imho... but esports sounds just better then ecompetition eh? ;)

so quit beeing too picky about everything :P

Having competitions where players can win money will not take the fun out of gaming. Has having profesional soccer leagues taken the fun out of an under 14's competition? Or playing a game of soccer during lunch time?

Gaming is becoming big money, same as pro-soccer has become. Why do people usually watch soccer on TV? Because they follow one of the teams, wanting it to do well, chearing them on. OR they enjoy watching 2 teams of people battle it out using team work and skill. Both can be applied to pro-gaming.

The only difference that can be applied is the rules of the game, what the objective of the game is and that the players arn't running around.

in my opinion it is skilled but not as skilled as physical sport, as physical sport takes preperation outside the game, i.e physical fitness. Wheres as games just take preperation mainly in game.

Is football a game? and is football a sport? so whats the difference between a game and a sport?

.....

And in football, all you do is kick a ball around, how can that be hard? and we could go on and on like this forever...
