Mod DB - End of Year Newsletter

We don't send newsletters often, so consider this the ModDB end of year special, wishing you a merry xmas and happy new years! If you don't want to receive newsletters from us, click here to opt out. The biggest news from us is the announcement of the 2010 Mod Editors Choice winners, the launch of Desura (our 100% mod friendly digital distribution client) and our involvement in the awesome Humble Indie Bundle 2.

So if you have been living under a rock this past week, you may have missed Desura. Our aim with Desura is harness the power of the PC, by providing a digital distribution service which supports mods for all games. We also want to put gamers and developers in control, by offering a social distribution service which encourages reviews, news and images to be posted just like on ModDB.

The launch of Desura just so happened to coincide with the release of the Humble Indie Bundle 2, so if you have been wanting to give Desura a shot, support indies and donate to charity at the same time, these are the games to get (you name your own price!)

While the biggest winner is yet to be announced (the 2010 Players Choice Mod), we have just finished presenting the 2010 Editors Choice awards. A huge congratulations must be extended to the mods listed below:

	Best Original Art The Call of the Fireflies is a puzzle-based singleplayer mod for Crysis. There's no guns, explosions or nanosuits involved. Just an old man who follows mysterious fireflies through mountains and dark caves, sleeping villages and frozen woods, and has to use all kinds of mechanisms to open his path. View all nominees »
	Best Upcoming Mod Dear Esther is an award-winning, critically acclaimed, experimental first-person game. Built in the Source engine, it abandons traditional gameplay, leaving only a rich world soaked in atmosphere, and an abstract, poetic story to explore. View all nominees »
	Best Multiplayer Mod Eastern Front is a mod for Company of Heroes. Following the ethos of mimicking a Relic Entertainment expansion pack, Eastern Front has succeeded in adding a full Soviet faction packed with unique and exciting units to the existing armies. View all nominees »
	Best Singleplayer Mod Nehrim: At Fate's Edge is a Total Conversion for the RPG The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. It is a self-contained game that bases upon the Oblivion game engine, but has no relation to Oblivion's lore. It is a world in which neither Tamriel nor any other TES based name exists.
