This is the latest update to the Zy-El mod by Kato.

This version is a bug-fix version to address a number of minor bugs revealed in version 4.4b.

Thrown potion damage has been increased considerably.

Also, the Treasure Card drop rates have been improved to increase the number of cards above 6's.

NOTE: THIS MOD ONLY WORKS WITH DIABLO2: LORD OF DESTRUCTION, patch 1.09d.

DO NOT connect to Battle.net after installing this mod. The Zy-El mod DOES NOT work with Battle.net

It is highly reccommended that your PC has at least 768 MB of RAM to run this mod at all. 1 GB RAM is preferable. Otherwise, the mod will run slowly when using cube recipes.

Why does the game not use 1.10? Just curious that is all, it is a real pain having to reinstall the game then patch it. One reason why i haven't played your mod yet :(

Awesome work though, level 10,000? I had trouble getting to 80!!

This mod was originally written for patch 1.09 when I started it 5 years ago. I never felt that patch 1.10 offered enough advantages to convert. It is a lot of work to do the conversion and I've invested a lot of time already.

Just re-install Diablo2: Lord of Destruction from CD and you'll have patch 1.07 then use the patch 1.09 installer on this download site. Then just replace the MPQ and DLL's from the Zy-El zipfile.

Oh, btw, this mod requires at least 768 MB of RAM; 1 GB is preferable.

You weren't kidding when you said this mod is no cake walk. It's not even that its difficult. Its just freaking impossible.

Not only do you start with no weapons, you start with a 16% chance to hit (as a barbarian). You can upgrade your gem to flawed and sell it for enough to buy a weapon, but since the monsters also have 800% hp (No kidding) that still won't keep you alive long enough to kill one.

Theres a difference between playing a challenging game, and one that you're going to have to hit, run back to town to heal, and hit again. One is fun, the other is just a waste of time.

Fix your mod, it looks like you put alot into it but got to lazy to balance the damn thing. This is the only mod I've ever seen where a hero editor is REQUIRED.

Can you increase the current maximum skill level from 100 to 1k or something like that ?
100 is way too low for Hell+Hardcore gaming.

General_Atrox, there are areas where you get a level-up per kill (i.e. special red portal areas from chapter 5).

RadGH, if that's bad try playing on Hell difficulty. For me it's a stalemate. I have level 570 and can'd kill the first zombie in chapter 1 on hell. It can't kill me either... it's a very phucked-up situation.
And the item upgrading system is way over-exaggerated. C'mon...to add something on a crafted item you need crafted ring/amulet + Cube locker[that requires other dozens of stuff, including a Zy]...and adding sockets ain't too 'available' either. At least make the items like crafted jewels, rings, amulets available at sell stores. I have gathered tons of $ and I don't have what to do with them. Make the items uber-expensive but buyable.
Crafting items should have less requirements.
