Welcome to today's news update. Recently, here on the team, we have been hard at work creating yet more assets for the modification, including both weaponry and statics and we would like to present a selection of wip models of our progress here for you today.

Knights Armament ChainSaw
Up first in today's update we are very happy to be able to feature one of the latest weapons to be released onto the arms market, the Knights Armament "ChainSaw". This brand new LMG was recently unveiled at this years 2009 Shot-Show in Florida and has a capablity of 600 rounds per minute, utilizing a stock SAW drum magazine. The weapon weighs a surprisingly light 12lbs fully loaded and also is capable of attaching an under barrel 37mm flare or 40mm grenade launcher. Designed primarily for heavy suppression, it is handled like a chain-saw hence the name. This asset was created by CryRecon modelling lead Mong0ose.

FGM-148 Javelin
Next in the list we continue with a follow on to the Javlin HUD system that was featured in our last news update. This time however it is the actual launcher system itself that we would like to present. The FGM-148 is infamous the world over as a man portable anti-tank missile system and features such firemodes such as "Top" and "Direct" attacks. It also houses a state of the art thermal camera and a fire & forget locking mechanism. This model is created by myself, Fortran.

MK153 Mod0 SMAW-NE
Following on with the heavy weaponry, this next model, created by team member Mong0ose is the SMAW, Shoulder-launched Multi-purpose Assault Weapon. Primarily serving as an anti-armour rocket, the weapon system can also be utilized for taking out other hard targets such as bunkers and fortifications. Although the system itself has been in service for a number of years, CryRecon will be featuring the latest rocket warhead, the NE or Novel Explosive. This rocket is a high-explosive version of the original, featuring a delayed fuse which allows the missile to punch a hole into a building, or armor unit before detonating.

Orient Star Container Ship
Moving away from weaponry now and onto some more assets for the Nampo Naval base level that is currently in production by TheMegaMaster. This model is of the "Orient Star" which is the largest of the North Korean freighter line. This asset will be docked in the harbour and serves as one of the key mission objectives in this up-coming level. The model is created by myself, Fortran.

Warehouse Interior
Continuing again with the Nampo level assets and after some community enquiries about "enterable" buildings, here we would like to present the interior for one of the many warehouse units that cover the map. This building is fully open for the player to access and should make for some interesting fire-fights against the defending North Korean army. Once again this asset was created by myself, Fortran.

Assorted Static Props
Finally for today's asset updated we would like to feature some low-poly static props created for the team by modeller and CryRecon military advisor, Allen_Idaho. These props include an F-18 fighter jet, a harbour buoy and a RIM-116 RAM surface to air launcher which will be mounted aboard our new aircraft carrier. These models will all feature in the various CryRecon levels.

ModDB MOTY 2008
As we all know, ModDB's Mod Of The Year 2008 is still currently open for voting for the next seven days and with CryRecon currently in the Top-100, we ask anybody who has yet to do so, and would like to support our modification, to go and cast your vote for us. Please also be sure to vote for your other personal mod favourites as well. You may follow the image linked below and click the "Vote" button next to the modifications name to register your vote.

Team Update
Finally as a footnote for today's news update we would like to quickly mention the two latest Crymod.com members to join the CryRecon team roster. Firstly veteran particle engineer Havoksage will be assisting us with the creation of a variety of brand new particle sets for the mod and will also be working to help us ensure maximum optimization in our levels. Secondly I am also very happy to announce that Shadez will be joining us and will now be assisting the team with both 2D artwork, conceiting and texture work.
