Post news Report RSS What Killed Modular Combat?

It has been almost six months since our last release. I think the question on everyone's mind is: Where the hell is Modular Combat v1.6? We announce the date of our next release.

Posted by on

Since my last announcement, we have been working diligently on a Linux server build. We wanted to have one because that would mean we'd be one of the only HL2 Mods based on the Orange Box Engine to support Linux; which ultimately means more servers and opportunities for players to check out our game.

Despite the best efforts of our lead coder, Winston, we do not have a Linux build - and I must apologize for this. I put the whole development process on hold because I truly believed that a Linux build would not be nearly this difficult to compile and run. Winston has been working day in and out to try to get this thing compiled - and has been faced with a three new problems every time he fixed one.

Despite all of this, we are ready to release the next version of Modular Combat.

Modular Combat v1.7 is just now entering the final stages of development. Our QA team has been testing the same build for the last 4 months and have exposed many bugs and inconsistencies in the mod. I've put a halt on all Linux work to deal with these final few issues before the release.

You may have noticed that we've skipped v1.6 in release dates. This is because we feel that this next release of Modular Combat is so far removed from the last version that it's going to blow your mind.

We will be releasing Modular Combat v1.7 on April 9, 2009.

If you own a Windows server and would like to host a server for our next release - you can contact me personally at me@matthewdryden.ca. I will send you an early version and offer support and let my QA team test your server for any problems.

We would like to thank you guys for your support and patience in our development down season. It will six months to the date when we release the next version of Modular Combat - and I promise you here and now...that will be the longest you will ever have to wait for another vesion of our mod again.

We are back, and we are here to stay.

Finally. I've been waiting for this.

Sounds good, any major updates you could fill us in on? This game is pretty awesome considering, and its pretty much like playing a phantasy star version of half-life 2.

what about the ability to make a LAN server to see how the modules work without grinding for hours upon hours only to find out it is not what you expected? not to sound mean but i'd like to try stuff out on a private server and plan my purchases on an offical one.

Oh don't worry, they won't ACTUALLY release it when they said they would.

Probably a late april fools joke or some ****.
