Hello there!

I made a short video clip about the Service tunnel map from the Alpha-1 version. Remember, Alpha-1 means we learn how to use Hammer level editor, (and scripting) of the Source engine ;). Some used item in this video are a placeholder model.

Other progress news in short:

- We made our first test NPC modell, wich has the ValveBiped skeleton for animating (under 3DS MAX, because i not prefer XSI, its too complicated for me, as a Mac after Windows :P).
Making a working custom NPC model was a great momentum for me (even the weightmaps are a bit buggy now), because I never works with character modelling, and animation.

- I wrote the Player's diary about what he live trough at Kontroll's world. At first he waked up in the morning, traveling to his office, but in the tunnel the metro get's on fire, and he must escape this stalemate situation. After a long way in forbinnen service tunnels, he's been save by an unknow person, who takes him to the "deeper grounds". After that the real adventure begins :).

- The gameplay what we planning (whitout any programmer support) will be similar to HL2. Puzzles-Action-Puzzles-Story and so on.

After all, we works on the mod's technical background, because there is still a lot to learn about Source engine :).

Keep tuned, and keep tracking !

Thx ;)

PS.:

Misinformation about the mod:

- No, its not will be the remake of the movie called Kontroll.
- No, Kontroll is not a sweedish mod. We are hungarian modders ;).

Not bad, kinda cool. It would be nice to see some more custom props, but mainly the doors.

Oh, and btw, putting text that tells you what to do really kills the mod. If at this point that's the only way to find out where to go there are some flow issues. Try playing around with the map and see if you can achieve the same effect without using that text.

You say, less text will be better?

Yeah I think that "this might be useful" shouldn't be text, it should be what the player thinks when he sees the object. It would be great if you could just let the level itself 'tell' or show the things you're currently telling the player with text.

Szia,

i fully agree, i too did use text messages in an earlier sp-mod i mine. but i too did get much complains about it, and now years later i fully agree with it. i choose in a later sp-mod for the option of showing Gordon in cutscenes, what was also not liked by much people. seems many people think you never may see the player figure in Hl2. i personaly don't agree, but ok. still, you should think of another way. because leaving out a message would also not work i guess. it would take a lot of people simply to much time and backtracking to figger these things out for themselves. what makes that only the real die hard puzzelers will like it. all in all i did like the custom made models, the movie and the map itself. well done !!!

one very small complain i have it that i noticed some brushwork where the textures we'rent lined up well. maybe you could work a bit on this.
succes,

I actually don't mind the text at all. Reminds me of classic survival horror or adventure games. Penumbra did it too, I think?

Excellent vid, I loved it :D My complaints are this though: The tunnels are too familiar, we need more points of referance, like those electrical sparks (and please add new doors). And as epic as it may be, what sane person puts the controls to a giant fan on top of the actual fan, having to exit in something like a wind tunnel? Lastly, there are a few messages that are uneeded :/ Still, great job, it reminds me of Half Life 1, but of course much better :)

This map basically made for me, to learn how to use scripts, and how to make triggers on map. Thats why, it seems a bit unreal for some players who are prefers real-life like maps in games :).

This mod will be a bit surreal, like thechineseroom mods ;) (Korsakovia and Dear Esther)
