Add your twitter feeds to your personal, game, mod, group, engine and company profiles!

Posted by INtense! on Jun 12th, 2012

These days a ton of game developers use twitter to interact with their fans and keep them informed of updates. A lot of these updates may just be minor and not worthy of a news post, but worthy all the same - which is why we have just integrated twitter feed support into all profiles across the site.

How does it work?

Right now you can add your twitter feed to your personal profile as I have done. If you are developing a game, mod or engine you can also add it to the profiles you are in control of. If you are in charge of a group or company on the site you can also add it there. Provided your twitter stream is public, we will pull the tweets from it and display them in your profile. Here is how it looks in my profile (shown on the right sidemenu).

Add multiple feeds

...but the feature i'm most happy with is the ability to add multiple twitter feeds to the one profile. Let's take Mojang the makers of Minecraft for example. Mojang has a ton of employee's such as Notch and Jeb all of whom have twitter accounts. The system supports that too, just enter all twitter feeds separated by comma and the latest tweets from everywhere is shown.

Apply anywhere

We hope that soon on game, mod and engine profiles you will be able to see tweets from all the developers on EA's profile you will be able to see tweets from all of their games and so on. Enjoy!

add more feature, not more design. a panel showing replys in the comments and forums to the "updates" part at the profile for example.
some of the mods have serious activity in their facebook page (like canvas). would be nice to integrate the facebook page somehow.

I think this is potentially a bit over the top. if you want that functionality you can get it on twitter but as always we will continue to refine it.

I find the simplicity very useful, it blends in very well too.

whilst I do agree sites that force the use of twitter / facebook to login and do stuff is lame - adding a few little things here and there as we have is the right way to do it. it's entirely optional!

The balance of adding social stuff and actually fixing/adding things that have been asked for a while is really off.

Please make that Twitter bar in mod pages optional. I do not like twitter neither do I want it on on my mod page, especially not empty. If you have future plans with other sites as facebook etc. please make them optional as well so I can disable them.

As I see its in my profile now too, I want it optional there as well so I can get rid of it.

Definitely needs the ability to show topics as well, for example on the Incursion page we'd ideally be using the #IncursionGame hash-tag to show most recent relevant updates.

Please make the twitter box on the profile page optional. I don't have twitter so I don't need anything asking for my username on it. God...

Edit: see OrangeNero

Is it possible to only display twitter posts with a specific hashtag from a specific user ? I don't think everybody use the twitter account to only talk about game/mod development (me first). It could be a good addition to add a filter.

Seconded. This is the one additional feature I'd like to see for this.

Me, too. Can we get a hashtag filter, please? I'd like to use twitter for small status updates for my mod, and don't want to create another twitter account.
