As a big thanks for everyone voting for us to make Top 100, I've decided to put together a contest. All you need to do is suggest a cool new ability for the Necrotrophs in this news post.

As a big thanks for everyone voting for us to make Top 100, I've decided to put together a contest. All you need to do is suggest a cool new ability for the Necrotrophs in this news post.

How it will work:
This competition will award two winners (each having a $20 limit for any game they want on Steam). The first winner will be chosen by you, the viewers (simply add karma to whichever post contains the suggestion you like) and the second will be selected by us, the Devs. Then, the subsequent winners of this competition will be revealed early next week. You can suggest anything from "special abilities" such as vomiting blood that covers the players screen or "passive" abilities such as increased running speed/strength, The only rules I have are:

1. Cannot be a duplicate of someone else's idea (even mine, see this entire news post).

2. It must follow this format:

Idea: Blood Vomiting
Ability Type: Special (the other being Passive)
Pro: Blinds Resistance players' screen.
Con: Is attached to health/stamina, the more the Necro vomits the less health/stamina they have.

Here is some information regarding the Necrotroph:
The Necrotroph is a parasite-controlled human that has been reverted back to an almost animal-like state. While they may appear totally savage, the controlling parasite can still telepathically sense the distance and condition of other fellow Necrotroph's (i.e. they not only know where eachother are, but how much health they have). The parasite is not totally telepathic though, communication is still produced through human/parasitic vocals.

It's just like rape.They put their eggs or whatever they have in the humans body and those little things grow inside him and he slowly dies.

I agree. I mean, some ideas really are bit rubbish, but you can tell that the authors of those ideas are only messing about and probably just posted something for the sake of posting something. Other ideas, however, are truly great and would most likely add a lot to the mod. But regardless of whether its a rubbish or good idea, its a bit uncalled for to hit them with the negative karma just because its someone else's idea.

@Setis: That and the fact that at least a third of the ideas has got buried for no good reason. I'm hoping the sheer amount of buried comments in this thread makes the developers decide to give the awards to the ideas they judge best, not one idea judged best and one idea that happened to be submitted last.

yeah, i completely agree with that. I really think it should be the devs deciding this one. I mean, when I posted my idea originally it got bumped to -4 after a few minutes, now its back up to +5 - and I think the fact that ideas got buried has contributed to that, or at least it wouldn't surprise me. So for the sake of fairness, I really think the devs should decide this contest.

Pro: Everything appears blue while Allies and enemy appear a bright
Green = 85-100%
Light Green = 75-85
Yellow = 50-75
Light Red = 30-50
Dark Red = 0-30
percents represent health.
So now you can make a plan to attack a certain player(s).
Cons: Hard to distinguish foe from friend from far away.
Drains Stamina slowly and more vulnerable to headshots
(Not sure if a headshot for Necros are already instant-kill).

Got Buried, was it really that bad?

Ability Type: Special
Pro: Disables radar, vocal communication, and produces a blur effect on Resistance screens for a short period (i.e. they can tell if necrotrophes pass by their screen, but they can not reliably aim at them)
Con: Has a relatively short range, immobilizes the user while he is "screaming" and severely weakens him for a few seconds after. Also, friendly necrotrophes can not be around the screaming one, or similar effects will occur. However, they will only occur if they are in an AoE and will not persist afterwards.

Ability Type: Special (the other being Passive)
Pro: The tentacles of the mouth erect into each other creating a large sharp pointed mass, the necro leans back with its feet in place slowly and awkwardly to gain momentum for a quick thrust forward pointing its head at their enemy with a couple of steps forward losing balance, the tentacles can pierce skin and cause splash damage, knocks back character(s), bleeding, major damage
Con: The Necro is very vulnerable during the charge stage, loses balance

Pros: Necro makes player(s) run faster but make the human player drop their current weapon. (This will add strategies to human players.)

Cons: Can be excessively used if not blocked somehow.

Ability: Fills all survivors silhouettes in bright red

Pro: All Necrotroph's see survivors as red silhouettes though walls and open spaces.

Con: Only lasts for 10 seconds. The caller has reduced heath during the 10 seconds

This whole thing has become complete Anarchy. Although it's good publisity for the mod i guess :)

yeah, and there is all the silly ideas that dont seem related at all to the mod or the necro's such as controlling the elements, making hurricanes and whatnot. :P

Pro: When the Necros use terrifying scream it makes all surrounding players have a small speed boost but also drop their current weapon

Cons: Player will have to learn new strategies against this skill so they wont die to quickly or lose there strongest weapon (pistols and melee are unaffected by this skill but player can still get speed boost, this would be bad and only should be used when player has a known rifle slotted.)

Pro: The Necrotroph is able to plant one of its own kind inside of an NPC or player. This then bursts out of them and wreaks havoc.
Con: The Necrotroph loses health as a result of this ability and is vulnerable whilst using it, the Necrotroph must stand absolutely still.

Pro: It would help the Necromorph see the players in the dark by surrounding them in a light kinda like Chronicles Of Riddick
Con: Bright Lights Will Take Off Health And Prolong Exposure to light will cause them to go blind for temporary amount of time if the mode is switch on.

Ability type: Special
Pro : Bites an enemy player and causes him to bleed and lose an amount of health(or keep bleeding untill a first-aid kit is found.)
Con : Close range and slower movement during the attack thus making a better target.

Ability Type: Special
Pro: If a Resistance player is hurt by a Necrotroph when it has this ability activated(lasts 3 sec with long recharge?), it will be able to "mind claw" the Resistance player a couple of times. "Mind claw" throws aim off extremely and slightly blinds the player for a second.
Con: Every time the Necrotroph hits the key to "mind claw" someone, they stop and their vision blurs.

I'm hoping this will encourage team work and make it even scarier for the Resistance player.

Ability Type: Passive/Special
Pro: Makes the Necro Run faster, See Longer, Strike Harder And Makes the skin harder so bullets have less effect.
Cons: Half's Your Health Over the time Using it, And depletes your stamina.

All the really good idea's are taken, im just hoping this one isnt lol.

pro: when necro is within say 20 feet they have a ability to grab their enemies weapon with their tentacles with a assigned button (e.g. shift)and the gun will be thrown or left broken by the necro
con: it will only work if the aiming is spot on and if it fails will leave the necro vulnerable while he slurps up his tentacle back into his body

Pros: The ability to pick up people/Objects alittle larger then them and use it against there enemy(the humans).
Youll possibly be able to pick humans up off the ground a sertin height and drop them down causeing them to take some damage.
Or even the possibility to drop them off of high areas,like balcony or roofs etc etc.

Cons: The thing is.When useing this ability too much your necro will become unstable and dizzy from using this mind ability to out stregthen the human.Therefore disorienting the necro players keys causeing him to sqwabble and his head too spin.

-and i havent yet noticed any comment with this ability so dont say im stealing or duplicating someone else cause im not going through every comment!-

EDIT: And i think is cruel you guyz that thing your soo smart wanna go and give others bad karma because of te competition if you do so for that reason!

Ability Type: Special
Pro: Creates a feint colored line which shows the path of a resistance member, which leads to them or somewhere close to their vicinity

Con: The colored line only shows up for couple of seconds, creates a loud sniffing noise and a scream when it catches a scent, you can only use this limited amount of times (perhaps 2 or once?), forces Resistance members to keep moving!

Pro : Can see enemies which aren't too far away through walls or if they aren't behind a wall they get a bright red glow around them.(say 200 meters or another number depending on the size of the map)
Con : Uses stamina/A focus effect on screen,like your screen turns mostly black with just a circle on it trough which you can still see.

Ability: Special

Pros: Leave your host to act as the parasite. You're not only are you a much smaller target, you can also move very quickly, but you can also take control of valid hosts just by "jumping into" them.

Cons: Very weak, die in 1-3 hits. This process also kills of your old human host. Takes 4 seconds to actually completely leave the host, this makes you vulnerable to survivors who can see you.

I realized my idea was rather unoriginal, so here is my second attempt. I kind of broke the rules by adding additional sections but I felt I at least needed the first section. The second addition was more or less for fun.

Idea: Multiplying Infection

Ability Type: Special/Passive (Must be chosen at spawn)

Pro: Much faster regenerating stamina, and much more damage resistance, especially in front. Attacks to the enemy's back drain stamina, and provide a slight DoT.

Con: Attacks to the front of the enemy do less damage. Reduced movement speed, and stamina. Gives position away during sprint.

Theory: As soon as one realizes a necrotrophe is a Multiplying Infection Necrotrophe, the player is forced to expend ammo and attention on it. Without other players around, the additional health provides little benefit because of the reduced movement speed and attack penalty to the front. Even more, it is unable to sneak up on players at a reasonable speed and alone it moves to slow to flank a player. Combined with other players it can draw fire for a short period of time, and possibly reach the back of an enemy to do extensive damage.

Description: One of the few diseases (?) the extraterrestrial has to fear. In a way, it is similar to human cancer, but instead infects the developing infant. One or two of the organisms becomes twenty all trying to coexist in a single body. In a period of weeks, the necrotrophe and the parasites within it will all die. However while the necrotrophe is "alive" the additional parasites stiffen the body, caushing greater resistance, slower movement, and making it much harder to preform any strenuous activity. However, the additional parasites also act to provide more energy. Running any faster than usual causes extreme pain forcing the infected to scream in agony, although it does not cause any physical damage. Despite the interior difference, this appears to be like any other necrotrophe

Ability Type: Special (after a kill streak or something)
Pro: Necrotroph grabs the Resistance player throws him down, stabs his stomach lifts him up and throws him. And also has a chance of hitting other Resistance stunning them for a very short period of time.
Con: Can only kill one Resistance member, and has a time limit.

Pro: Alerts other Necrotrophs with a flash display of your blood spray when wounded, painting a brief snapshot of where the enemy is positioned and firing from.
Con: Stamina will drain when damaged.

Pro: After having any limb dismembered, a tentacle will grow in its place.
Con: Tentacle leg(s) result in slowed movement, tentacle arm(s) result in less damage

The Necrotroph can sense human and necros pheromones. This allow him to see the other players even behind walls.
To recharge this ability the Necrotroph need to feed from bodies.

Pro: Becomes mist-like becoming temporarily invulnerable to bullets.
Con: Last a short duration, long recharge. Upon exiting displacement, movement becomes dramtically slowed making the Necrotroph a perfect target.

Ability type: Special
Pro: Punctures an enemy's lung with long range slivers of bone, dealing damage over time and reducing the maximum stamina of the survivor.
Con: Does very little initial damage, takes a while for the DOT bleed to ramp up, requires a charge up and cooldown. Also, drains Necrotroph health when firing.

Idea: Tounge Grapple
Ability type: Special
Pros: Tounge sticks to most surfaces (can make certain surfaces unstickable, ie, glass, some metals, ect) as well as players and uses tounge to slingshot towards stuck surface/player. If stuck to a player, player is momentarily stunned (only a few seconds) and Necrotroph can slingshot into player causing damage and knocking them back. Can cover great distance quite quickly.
Cons: Necrotroph is momentarily rendered motionless while launching tounge and preparing to slingshot towards target. Necrotroph is also unable to detach from target mid-flight (maybe) and their course cannot be altered. Said Necrotroph is also small and light so very weak.

Idea: Distraction
Ability Type: Special
Pro: Causes a noise where the necrotoph is aiming, distracting a resistance player. Or using their telepathy the necrotoph is able to move an object from far away causing it to fall over or break.
Con: Necrotoph must remain stationary while using this ability (possibly has a 5 second charge) and/or uses up stamina.

Pro: Jams enemy equipment(guns) for 5-10 seconds
Con: Stun necrotoph for as long as gun is jammed making this only viable as a cooperative tactic.

Ability Type: Special
Pro: Causes resistance to freak out and if resistance don't holster their weapon in 5-10 seconds then they are forced to shoot themselves. Can be a scream or screech with tentacles flying everywhere.
Con: Uses a significant amount of stamina and/or the necrotroph can't move until the gun is holstered or the resistance fellow takes care of his "problem."

Just realized I've misspelled Necrotroph until now...sorry.
