Welcome to an another transmission from the dark grim world of Rogue Republics. Situation in the Eastern European republic of Ostslavia continues to deteriorate swiftly....

Situation in the Eastern European republic of Ostslavia continues to deteriorate swiftly. The new Ostslav government has shown itself to be even weaker than the previous. On the background of covert-ops war with Russia the new officials have shown inability to react decisively. Which provokes further Russian military infiltration in the territory of the former Ostslavic state. Anti-government pro-Russian militants have seized control of many cities and army outposts on the Ostslavic East.

Right now only the right-wing miltiary organization National Assembly, offers heavy resistance to pro-Russian milita.
We have taken an exclusive interview with the lieutenant of this previously little-known organization, which influence skyrockets recent days.

NA lieutenant: Hello, I can't tell you my real name. We all have specific codenames in the National Assembly, mine is Buzzun. I command an assault squad of our warriors. A day before our battle group have stormed the town center of the town of Nivushka.
Interviewer: Were there any casualties?
NA lieutenant: The enemy numbered ~200 militans of which nearly 10 were neutralized. We could have made more advance, but we lack any support from Ostslav army and National Assembly is nearly alone in fighting the pro-Russian separatists. However the good news are that we're receiving now hardware from our headquarters in the Capital.

Interviewer: What kind of hardware?
NA lieutenant: Some specific details I will keep as a secret due to rough rules of war. What am I willing to talk about is the new Taurus heavy APC. It is a former police vehicle used by our mortal enemies – police special force “Berkut” of the previous government. During the revolution we captured several Tauruses to counter the government's superiority in armor. Now after the regime has fallen, we gained control of the entire ex-”Berkut” equipment and put it into use. The basic watergun was changed to dual machinegun turret we designed ourselves. Our engineers are working on the flamethrower variant to smoke out the enemy from any kinds of fortifications. We got almost a full-scale weapons industry now – everything from Molotov cocktails to light tanks is being produced in the NA covert factories.

Meanwhile, the pro-Russian rebels on the East have published recent info regarding the frontline in the Donbass region.

Recent coverages from the battlezone:

Taurus
Foliage update The Outskirts
Airspace violation

It is a very nice story, but "spiritual successor" of C&C Generals, I am not so sure, there are too many dissimilarities. Oh and Generals is not dead, not by a longshot with such an active modding community.

I was referring to Generals 2.
Generals is the child of it's Bush-era "war on terror" days, we base off from our epoch - that's the core dissimilarities regarding the universe.

I think the screenshot reminds me more of Eugen's Act of War series, which is basically C&C Generals with some extras.

As someone who's played both Act of War and Generals, I have to object to the remark that AOW is generals with bells and whistles.

The 2 games are quite different both in play style and setting. Using your criteria there are many other games that could be described as General with extras, the similarities you speak of are basically those of classic RTS games....

My bad, I mean AoW has unused ideas from Generals, like the PoW mechanism.

So much nazism, I had hopes for the Intermarum, if they turn out to be Hitler-lovers I'll never play them, I will just slaughter them all.
Nice story, perhaps changing the flags on photoshop could be a good idea the next time you post a news article, I enjoy them thouroughly but the Ukrainian flag doesnt feel very "Ostslavic". ;)

NA are right-wing, but not actual Nazis which are Nazis - they are described being so by Russian media.

I think it´s okay to don´t change the flags, even if it may be considered inapropriate by someone. However, as it was mentioned few comments abow, This game is a child of our era, with all the controvery we´re facing in realworld events.

The Nazi symbols seem misplaced and disturbing.
