Post news Report RSS The Mutant Factor removed from Greenlight!

I have sad news. Valve has asked that I remove my mod from Greenlight.

Well, I figured that this might happen but it's a little disappointing anyway. A Valve rep very nicely asked that I remove TMF from Greenlight because they do not have plans to support any non-Source mods at this time or in the forseeable future.

The good news is that I increased traffic to my ModDB page and introduced more people to my mod than ever before! The bad news is that it must come to an end.

So, it is with great sadness that I deleted my Greenlight mod profile.

Please tell people about this mod. I love ModDB but it is SO Source-heavy that mods made in other engines do not generate a tenth of the traffic and that is a little frustrating. I have nothing against Source - I love Half-Life! I just get tired of so many mods made with the same engine.

Let me tell you people, it is more difficult to map in the Source editor than Cryengine in my opinion. That of course, does not make it inferior in any way. I just enjoy mapping in Cryengine more and would love to see more mods in that engine.

Anyway, thanks to all of you for your support!

Spread the word!!!!

Crysis is a better engine IMO anyway!

Depends on your point of view. Crysis is a better looking engine, yes. But the Source engine is a lot more mod friendly.

Totally agree, McKool, many people here still seem to be under the impression that the Cryengines are limited in their modding capabilities despite them featuring a diverse range of mods! Therefore the best of luck to you and your project, keep up the good work and show them! ;)

I'm surprised and dissapointed in Valve, for such a cool company this seems like a not too subtle YOU WILL USE THE SOURCE ENGINE enforcement, yeah source is decent, and a lot of good stuff has come from it, but does that mean it's the come all and be all of mod engines? Hardly, and to discriminate against this very well made mod just because of its engine does both steam and its playerbase a disservice IMO. /Rant over.

Wow, that's actually terrible.

Did you get your 100 dollar Greenlight fee back, at least?
