I put up an experimental version last night, but it had a bit of a nasty bug. It’s been fixed now, though.
Click and drag to scroll around, the rest of the instructions are in the applet. I’ve also updated infdev with a whole bunch of tweaks and bug fixes.
+ Caves are much more interesting now, specifically:
+ Rooms now have 1-5 exits, instead of just 1, making natural hubs.
+ Caves are even more regional, with truly swiss cheese areas being possible (but rare)
+ Springs (water and lava) are more common
+ Increased variety in tunnel thickness, increasing the odds of branches
+ Added natural gravel and dirt under ground for more varied caves
+ Made surface springs more common. Surface lava springs are possible, but uncommon
+ Lava + water = rock
+ Lava springs never spread. You can pick them up with buckets, but never clone them.
+ Lava spring + water = obsidian
+ Getting the player stuck inside ground will obscure the view and slowly suffocate the player
* Water flows nicer, making it easier to make water slides
* Fixed a few bugs in liquid spreading code
* Fixed invisible waterfalls
* Made massive tweaks to the pending tile tick logic (used for liquids and fire), quite possibly fixing a crash bug

What is you suppose to do in this game?=)
whatever you want to do, think of it as an Open RPG but still only single player for now.
What are you talking about? there's multiplayer.
just build stuff atm
but there is also survival and such
just wondering, will the posibility for player scripts exist? :D
yes. but probably not soon. maybe in another game-mode. if not, notch did say that, if the game's popularity runs dry, he'll release the source. so it is 100% going to happen, but not soon X3
I love what you did with the water, but if I could give a suggestion or two, that may already be in your agenda.
Currently when water flows, it's always at a downward angle, even if it hits a dead end on a flat surface, it still acts as if it's flowing down. Would there be a way for it to eventually fill back up to be level with the rest of the lake/river/ocean/w.e?
Another thing, which may be a bit more work intensive, if water could drain from somewhere into another area if it's not an infinite source like the ocean, say a small pond draining down a channel into an underground holding area that the player makes, something like that.
Just two suggestions/inquiries that I had about the current dynamic water and what you maybe had in mind for the future with it. Currently it's amazingly done and much better than before, so congrats on a great game so far! :D
unfortunately, notch himself does not come onto moddb (yet), but you can always contact him directly! his email is on the minecraft homepage in the bottom right corner ^^
I didn't know that xD Thanks!
Ooo, great update! I can't wait to take a look at this new stuff.
looking freaking awesome
