Hello, AK's fans and subscribers.
2016 is coming to an end and the deadline established by myself draws dangerously close. IT is time then for me to explain why AK will not be released on 31th December 2016.
As some of you probably know, modding CK2 is something that I do in my spare time while focusing mostly on my studies. This year has been particularily tough with lots of unexpected events that needed my attention, as well as lots of stress and pressure to get everything straight. As a result, since September I had very little time to spare on modding, and I spent most of it loading my batteries anyway.
These past months have been pretty intense for me and thus the progress I made in developing the mod is... unsatisfactory, to say the least. The progress is incomparably small to what I planned to achieve by the end of the year. I am disappointed about this turn of events probably as much as or even more than you. Believe me that if I it was up to me, I'd love to have kept on schedule and prepare to release the mod on planned date.
As regards to what now... That remains to be seen. The failure of this deadline and the stress associated with it made me realize that it was stupidly rash of me to set up such an optimistic release date and I do wish I haven't done that. For now I'm going to put the mod back into the TBD mode and simply keep you updated on every major progress that I make.
Perhaps that is not the best policy around, but I believe that the only choice I have now is to simply adopt Blizzard's "it'll be done when it's done". I'd rather not disappoint you anymore with another failed deadline, so I promise to set one up only when I'm 100% sure I can finish it on time.
I hope you forgive me and continue to support Ancient Kings, as I am not going to back down on this project.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to every one of you.
Thanks for your continuous support and see you in 2017.
Hey Arivius, I've been following this mod for ages. Don't give up! Take your time and release it when it's ready to be released. Valve time is always better than EA MOH-BF3 time
Haha, I guess that much is true. Although it's not the best feeling in the world to be compared to Valve when it comes to development delays, haha.
On a serious note though, thanks for support. It really means a lot.
Hey man you do you, keep up the great work
Thanks! I'll try as best as I can!
Bummer, guess it's better to delay the mod than to release a buggy mess or kill the mod altogether, Good luck and Happy Holidays!
Thanks, I do believe so too. And you too!
Thank you very much for the hard work! I don't think you should worry about any necessary delays. As an Ancient History nerd, I love your ideas, and the prints and descriptions look very promising. I will be waiting eagerly for as long as it takes! For curiosity's sake, with which DLCs will it be compatible?
For sure with every one of them at the very least up to the Horse Lords. I'm not perfectly sure about some of the other DLCs, like the newest one, the Reaper's Due, or the Conclave, as I'm personally quite critical of the released content. We'll see about that I suppose. And thank you very much for the support, I very much appreciate it!
Will you make the plagues historical? Altough from look,as you are delaying enough it will probaly delay even more, this mod looks awsome sauce enough, keep up the good work and release dev diary's about it,a nice touch would something like a beta release to let us find bugs wich you would problaly not see and give you more advice thus speeding up you'r mod development.Have a nice development :)
Yes, historical plagues is something I'm looking forward to include in the game, although for obvious reasons it's less of a priority (have to release the base mod in the first place ;P). And yes, eventually I do want to include something of a dev diary. That's initially how I wanted to work on the mod since I started it (hence the Features I used to release quite often), but I quickly realized it's a bit of a folly to do that given my highly erratic work schedule and simply lack of reference point for you guys (I'll probably return to this format once you have something to test and play).
