The Dark Mod 2.01 Release!!!!
It's that time again. Time to run your tdm_updater to get the latest Dark Mod Standalone release!!!
A small update, TDM 2.01 fixes several issues surrounding combat and makes some graphical improvements to character models.
Some technical fixes have also been added: Taaaki has fixed the
issue with TDM failing to reload missions if your folder was not named
“darkmod”, and grayman has solved some save/reload crashes.
The player was taking double damage from weapons in 2.0; grayman has
fixed that, and Springheel has made several other modifications to
combat, including making it harder to avoid weapons by running
backwards.
The end result is that combat has been made slightly more
forgiving at lower difficulty and harder at the higher difficulties.
This update improves the appearance of several female character
models, as Springheel has worked on improving the meshes, as well as
adding a few new heads.
Lastly, a physics bug that made the map “The Swing” unplayable, has now been fixed.
To get the update, simply run your tdm_update.exe file.
Bear in mind that saved games may no longer work after updating, so be sure to finish any missions you’re playing first.
(also, we’re in the process of moving our server, so bear with us if you encounter any connection issues)

Bikerdude and Goldchocobo have teamed up with several Dark Mod team members to convert Evilartist's Doom 3 mod "The Gatehouse" into a Dark Mod mission!

Yeah, wouldn't it be awesome if they made a new Thief game. Especially since the upcoming one just looks like a Dishonored clone instead of Thief. Square Enix should sign on TDM crew.

It's always gonna be named TDM in homage to what it started as.

The Gatehouse is now available in the mission downloader!
I tried running the updater and it doesn't work...
Running on Win7, started the game downloaded all of the maps but like i said the updater won't run. Tried different compatibility modes/admin mode, along with disabling anti virus. Any hope of patch being available to download/install manually?
Try running tdm_update again now.
What happens when you try to run it? Error messages?
Solved! for some reason my darkmod folder was set to "read only", the updater couldn't do anything because of this. damn windows!

By best mods I presume you are referring to missions? We usually recommend that you start with smaller missions like The Thieves or Trapped! but you can certainly dig-in and go for the 3-mission mini-campaign "No Honor Among Thieves" or play any of the "series" missions like Sotha's "Thomas Porter Series (7 missions)" or Grayman's William Steele missions (WS2 was just released!). Honestly, I still say that Moonbo's "Requiem" is a must play even though it was his first mission. It's a masterwork! You should check out this thread:
