Hello! Today I bring you the 2nd weekly devlog video for The Archer.
Here is the summary of the things I worked on this week:
- Did most of a second pass on Tilia Lea.
- Fixed the inventory/menu buttons.
- Interface hud stuff.
- Added in "shield" arrow prototype. They create a sphere on hit that destroys any projectiles that pass through it.
- Added in light arrows.
- Started experimenting with a day and night cycle.
- Added in a few more NPC objects using the old sprites.
- Got the first basic challenge online. Timelines are a saviour.
- Did some secret research.
- Cleaned up some of the enemy code, and experimented with some new, simpler enemies.
- Started blocking in the outdoor areas of the first "dungeon".
- Started working on coin objects, based on the orange triangle XP things from Cave Story.
- Recorded a bunch of gameplay clips and started planning out a format for the weekly devlog videos.
- Made some templates for different poster sizes and cd cases.
- Got a semi-dynamic weather in the game using timelines.
- Started tiling up the first "dungeon," mostly as an experiment.
- Added a couple more torch/lantern doodads (to use the WC3 map editor terminology).
- Worked a bit on the "tutorial" level.
- Started working on water.
- Fixed a small jump bug, so now it doesn't jump automatically if you hold down the jump button. I really need to spend a few days modifying the engine to properly handle rope and water movement.
You can check the links below for more information about the game. I'll see you next week!

Looking sweet! :)
Thankee~
Great idea! Slightly looks like Abuse just because of the controls. Keep it up:D. Tracking....
Thanks! Never heard of it but I will definitely check it out.
SO beautiful! :D
Thanks Theon!
Looks very, very good, and Bugtrooper is right, like a hybrid of Abuse and Sword & Sworcery.
Tracking.
Ohhh, Abuse! Yeah I totally know that game. I suppose it is kinda similar - although I took a lot more design ideas from some old bow and arrow Flash games.
Hey, if you need a voice actor i am so there. I would love to voice some characters (or enemies)!! PM me if your interested.

Cool man! If I decide to go down that route I'll definitely give you a shout.
I like this... especially the Prince of Persia-esc arrow climbing.
Ha cool - glad you dig it.
great stuff, the video does have a good layout and is entertaining to watch
the font of the conversation seems a bit sloppy, but that maybe just be me
hope to see some good puzzles with the light arrows, like platforming in the dark ;)
good work, go on!
