A couple of weeks past since the last News post, and this for a reason. Most work went once more into the game engine and adding new features there as well as trying to fight up the frame rate for slower computers. A couple of new things are now implemented and working. ( More details on the Homepage )

Technical Progress:
Projective Lighting ( aka Projector Lights ) provides a special light source in the game that works like an image projector. A static or dynamic image is projected into the scene wrapping correctly around all objects hit. This light type is useful for various light sources which have a spot-like shape.

The engine is now equipped with full transparency support for map geometry and dynamic objects. So far only color-key type transparency has been implemented.

A lot of work went also into changing the mapping style. Up to now the map editor I am writing has been the only way to create map geometry. This has though been cumbersome and not what i consider a quick work flow. Hence i changed the course and focused on exploiting Blender3D for that task. Now you are able to create the various parts of a map inside blender and export the parts individually. The map editor serves now for merging together those parts and for placing and manipulating Object Entities.

Content Progress:
besides those technical achievements the work on the content side continued. I reworked the first map to be done entirely in blender. The main building in the map center is now done to a large degree apart from objects littering around. The barracks also received their walls, windows and door frames. The roof is also made and you can go up there. Light objects are not placed many there yet but that comes in the next time. A couple of objects have been modelled for the map including 2-Panel Windows, Lamps and some technical equipment. Work on the world textures will be picked up soon after all technical issues are resolved. Screenshots there are not of the new models as prolly I think it is more interesting to seem them in their final place in-game instead of some blender-render.
