The Taurus Legio homepage is official! Taurus Legio is a new Halflife2 multiplayer-space-action-sim-cartoon-spoof-cel shaded MOD, based on good old Star Wars ship designs, though twisted a bit to fit the MOD needs. Not only is it that, its also low poly. And without textures. Sounds like crap? Take a look at the concept images!
Here is the lowdown:
- Designed around multiplayer (will not feature singleplayer), even the big capital ships are controllable by players.
- Its gonna be simple, in everything from ship controls to weapons. There is no ground combat, this is just space simulation.
- Ship designs are also simple, based on Star Wars, although some heavily modified for TL use.
- Its gonna enforce team play; group morale which increase the hull strenght of your ship when you have friendlies around. Not realistic, but effective. Every ship will be usefull, and every ship will be needed and every ship has it weaknesses in familiar RTS rock-paper-scissor style.
- Its gonna enforce fleet coherence via something as simple as fuel and limited ammunition. You need a capital ship (or support ship) nearby, sending in bombers might get them dead in space before you even arrive.

News with a concept render on the massive Moonshadow in fleet formation (classed as a battlecarrier in lack of other definitions) is just awaiting authorization... Then it will be a while, need to finish those smaller capital ships :)
