I'm trying to understand the business model, so the game will cost $30 upon release, and later down the road it will have a subscription, but will the subscription be required to play the game or?
Hey DarkAssassian the subscription will not be require to play the game. It will just enable some special interface options, maybe unique role playing things stuff like that.
Ahh okay, in that case I may pledge to it.
Ya I added that question to FAQ on Kickstarter thanks for asking it
I believe none of it is yours or from what I see a very large portion of it. I know what I am talking about as six years ago I did a Stargate fan based game and I recognize almost all the elements. Even the flash animation when the Stargate is activated and makes the bubble effect, all the ships are directly from the series / movies.
Also, it is very easy to see that the art is not consistent because many of the pieces aren't even in the same style (some are from an original 3d, others are real life objects other are 2d cartoony or 2d traditional...)
Keep in mind that copyright is not something to play with. If you don't have a written confirmation from MGM to use all of this stuff your game will be taking down and since you live in US you will also be fined.
I have my doubts regarding their permission because six years ago I dealt with MGM regarding the same thing. Keep in mind that you aren't allowed to develop even a free fanbased game without their permission.
Also I had large issue when I built something large and then shrank the size down it made stuff change slot how they look. Also some of my bad work is hidden when I resized the images so was a win win. Either way having someone improve on stuff I couldn't do very well.
Also Primus sorry to hear that your project got burned by MGM. That's a major bummer. MGM lawyers are really hardcore. The one I've been in contact with was quite harsh.
You forgot to link to the Kickstarter itself.
