A introduction into the story of Crystallized Doom!

Posted by on

Hi all, a bigger news this time.

Today I want to give you information about the story of Crystallized Doom and a introduction to new players. What is it all about? The mod plays right after the events of C&C Tiberian Sun Firestorm. Cabal was defeated by GDI and Nod forces together. But after the destruction of the Core the alliance didn't hold long. Kane was dead, the Brotherhood scattered up without a main leader. An easy target for GDI. In 2035 the Global Defense Initiative declared that the Brotherhood of Nod was finally defeated.

After that devasting victory, the task forces where split into three main groups. The defense group, the attack group alias Steel Talons and the expansion group ZOCOM. Each group had a main task. While the main defense force defended the last Tiberium free zones called Blue Zones, the ZOCOM reclaimed Tiberium infested Red Zones back. The Steel Talons however - got the task to get the old territory of Nod under control. They destroyed here and there some small Nod rebells but nothing dangerous was happening in the Yellow Zones...till one day. 2039...The Forgotten who lived hidden in these Zones formend a big organised military operation against the GDI. Surprised by the Mutants, GDI had to react.

The first campaingn sets you in the late part of the first Forgotten rebellion in the year 2043 shortly before the rebellion was stopped. You play a new commander who fights against the Mutants. The GDI campaign is the only one of the 4 which lets you experience all 6 epochs (70 years) of the Crystallized Doom story - from the GDI's position. The other 3 ones will cross over with this one.

The Nod campaign Brother's Forever will give the player the possibility to experience the rise of the Brotherhood directly. It will start in the year 2064 - so it's in the middle of the Second Revolution, a perfect time to resurrect Nod back. You will start with just one man forming a future empire - or will fail and be forgotten forever.

Crystal Doom is very similar to the mod name Crystallized Doom. Indeed it's a main part of the story and it's events. The Sotir clan seeks revenge against the GDI. But you don't have enough soldiers to fight against such a technological monster. So you start fighting other mutant clans to get more power. The result is a Second Revolution - causing Nod to be reborn and much more worse events happening.

Oh and there is Cabal - or let's say something like it, his return is caused by the other events of the campaigns like Project Nemesis (the former name of the mod). But I think that this was enough of history for today right?

So what we got else? ATM we have version 1.9.40.15 as BETA Standalone aviable for people interested. This version has all 4 fully functional factions playable. We are eager to hear your feedback, to improve it for the full release (1.9.40.2).

After that we are going to rework all techlevels from scratch. With version 1.9.41 only techlevel 1 will be supported. Why? Resons are complete new gameplay/graphic overhaul, optimized AI and subfactions for GDI and Nod. Yes, you read right. Many wondered why GDI and Nod got such a huge amount of units compared to Cabal and the Forgotten. They will be split into subfactions. So with version 1.9.5 we will have a feature complete mod (GDI, Steel Talons, ZOCOM, Nod, Black Hand, Marked of Kane, The Forgotten and Cabal's Cyborgarmy) with over hundreds of new mod maps, overhauled interface, a custom soundtrack, a harder hitting AI and a completed balance. Then we will start to work on the campaigns and start reaching version 2.0 after 5 years of work...

As for my personal reference, I don't want to make the best TS mod out there, there are already a few which deserve this title much more than CD, my target is to deliver something unique for people who enjoy this mod.

Very ambitious and very good. I like the detailed story, it really sets the tone for the quality of the mod. Thank you for the update and keep up the great work; I, for one, cannot wait for this mod.

I first got the this mod back when it was project Nemesis, fell in love with nod due to that one unit now named legion (where is he from? he looks so familiar, cant help but think hes from battletech) among the gdi it was the mechs from mechwarrior. Needless to say this mod brings nostalgia and is probably the best mod on here.

I like the idea. I need to read it a bit more in-depth later, though, before I make a final critique.

hmm not really a fan of complete overhaul. sounds like you can add a few more years to the development. creating missions and testing these takes a hell lot of time.

Anyways Good Luck, sounds like great things are ahead. the mod is pretty great already.
