A beta version of the Source SDK is now available through Steam. To access it, add
-beta sdk
to your Steam shortcut when you next launch it. Remove the parameter again to revert to the normal version.
This update allows the creation of HDR maps with the new version of Hammer, but does not yet contain any post-Day of Defeat: Source code fixes.
Some of Hammer's new features include shaded texture views, models appearing properly in 2D views, and several interface tweaks.
wtf? this won't worn for me no matter what. The beta supposeldy released only for Dod: source or also for HL2 and CS: S?
:O I finally got it to work and i LOVE it!! A great update which will save me quite a bit of time with compiling.
whats new in hammer?
source?
Did nothing except update the SDK. I can see no difference in Hammer, nor is there anything in the sdk that talks about HDR. :S
there is an option in the compilemenu(press F9) activate HDR there
There's source files for dod_flash and a small HDR demo map.
I meant: whats the source of this message.
Anyone knows where to find 'dod_flash and the small HDR demo map ' ? ; exactly Folder definition please :)
Change your game to DOD in the SDK launcher and open a map in Hammer. They'll be there.
If that's not what you want: sourcesdk_content\dod\mapsrc\
This doesn't work at all, there is no option for HDR in the compile menu and my SDK didn't update when i added the -beta sdk to the short cut or launch options.
Can some one post a screen to prove me wrong and explain :P.
I thought you added it to the actual source sdk shortcut instead it should be:
C:\Valve\Steam\Steam.exe -beta sdk
it depends on where your steam install is located. run that when not in steam.
Loada cool new features added. . autosave, can now see the models in 2d view not just boxes, can see model fade distance, added texture stretching when resizing brushes. They seemed to have changed the font in the views aswell, displacments show up in 2d views, excellent new model viewer( you can now see the model). Also in the perspective biew you can select "shaded texture mode" makes thing abit darker?? I'm sure there is other things, but thats what I noticed so far.
does anyone know if this will update the black wall problem lots of people have been getting. I.e even if a light is right next to a wall the wall appears pitch black
Apparently it does. Creating an organised map in the first place is a far better way around the problem, though. ;)
