Soldat is a fast paced 2d shooter. Don't let the lack of a third dimension get to you, because it's an action packed game drawing on the roots of many popular titles. Weapons are chosen in a Counter-Strike style, and range from modern automatics to sniper rifles. The landscapes and game style are vaguely Worms like, except everything is guns blazing real time instead of turn based. Soldat delivers in game play by packing five game modes from capture the flag to team death match. Maps can be created with the editor and new weapons and graphics can also be made along with interface changes.

Soldat, now there's a name i don't hear for a long time, it's really great to see it again, and this time with Desura attached to it ^^
It should be mentioned that you can play this game for free otherwise. Paying for it just unlocks some extra features and the buying thing is more of a "thanks dev, I support you" than actually buying this game.
Indeed, that's true, and it should be mentioned, but for this little game, i say it's more than worth supporting the devs.

Not that I have anything against the game, just wish it had more substance for single player, a story atleast, like contra...
I'm not big on competative games really, I almost never participate in MP games except for co-op or ocassional LAN once a month... This does look somewhat epic! Makes me wonder about KAG, if thats going to be the same

The size of the action is a bit of an eye strain. Perhaps it could be made a little closer?

Soldat is AWESOME. We used to play this on LAN back in computer classes in high school. Fantastic for LAN play or even just online multiplayer if 2d shooters are your thing. Great deathmatch.
