The XSI Mod tool is a free and largely unrestricted version of Avid's professional modeling package that exports to Source and XNA. There's finally been a new release that brings it from version 4.2 to 6! Unreal was supported in 4.2, but there doesn't seem to be an exporter for 6 yet.

Unreal was supported in 4.2, but there doesn't seem to be an exporter for 6 yet. (On that subject, you don't have to worry about the Source exporter as it's downloaded automatically.)

Just downloaded it and it will not load, coninually fails, hope it is just a bug with my system...
Finally XD, the crappy 4.2 mod tool put so many people off XSI. 6 is much much better IMO hopefully this includes most of the features of XSI 6 and doesnt dilute it all too much.
cool something got for them modders
gah. i dont like xsi. i tried to learn it once and there are many buttons and doesnt go well with my res. if you have a bigger screen then 15" then this will work good for you.
I couldn't live on a 15" screen. 24" is my primary development monitor with a 19" seconday
Great news ! agentnt, so all the big 3D apps have lots of buttons, so what? XSI is actually really easy to learn and use tool !
AgeNt_ XSI 6 comes with a layout for 1024 users and I think the new mod tool layout works good in 1024 also. If you (or anyone else) was put off by the previous mod tools i would consider giving this a go. Theres a LOT of enhancements and for those used to Max even an option for Qwerty style Max controls with ALT navigation. This mod tool version also includes a crap load of nub friendly options , tutorials and source files to get you started. :)
This would be why the interface is so much faster! :D
Hmm... I wonder if the MSH exporter for the Battlefront series will work with it... :D
well thats cool. but im sticking with 3ds max 9 :)
Does anyone know if the Valve XSI Plugin will work with this version?
Its part of this version, and it even auto updates itself :P
Nice.
I've kind of given up on the mod tool, but if the updates are good I'll get back to modelling.
I downloaded it and it seems to work fine. Nice updates on it , able to export alot more triangles. I almost was ready to buy 6.0 now its free. ;)
It has more working options for modelling Valve stuff, the scripts on xsi.net work now too.
