Report article RSS Feed Snatcher Mod Update!

Some info and news finally! after a 5 month break from the project...

Posted by Ash712 on Jun 10th, 2010

First off :
I'm sorry for the lack of updates, but college had me too busy to work on the Mod these past few months.
I know you guys have been awaiting some news about the mod, so heres whats going on...

Due to the announcement of Crysis 2 and a new CryEngine release by the end of the year I've put some major features I was working on for Snatcher on hold (such as the Dialog System and Rigging tasks).

I will be porting the Mod to the new CryEngine when it is released, so I'm playing it safe and focusing on the work that I know I won't have a problem porting such as models and animation etc.

I've been playing around with a new "Cel Shader", and I'm still working on re-modeling ALL of the previous work to be more detailed and high-poly in design.

I'm also working on re-making 3 of my favorite Metal Gear Online maps for Crysis Wars.
You can check it out HERE @ Crymod.com or check my Blog on ModDb for more info.

There's still a lot going on behind the scenes, so it might be a little quieter around here but work is still taking place and I'll keep you guys updated!

Woah, I would really advise against porting to a new engine. It would mean you have to scrap a lot of work.

It's much better to stick to the current engine, unless if you have really good reasons to move over to the new engine.

Glad to see the project is still alive and well, I'm still really looking forward to it :)

You bring up a vaild point Sir...Thank You!

Luckily Modeling and Mapping can be ported almost instantly to ANY engine on the market today...Which at this point is ALL of the work done so far and why I'm putting some features on hold, so I won't be losing any work.

The reasons to move to the NEW CryEngine are very clear from a development stand point. There are no worries man...trust me...It will benefit the Mod greatly.

I'm glad that I have great fans who actually give a **** about whats going on and continue to support and follow this project!

Thanx again man!
And feel free to voice your questions, concerns and ideas whenever ;)
The same goes for all of you paying attention to this project here!

Well Crysis 2 should actually run better than the first Crysis since Crytek has had 3 years to optimize the engine, so if you could run Crysis you should be fine.
