We, Dev.Muffin hereby present you the latest "unofficial" update to SMOD40aq that hopefully become the future of SMOD.
SMOD Standalone is a "updated" version of SMOD client that takes advantages of some Orangebox engine features like LAA flag; it also fixes LUA and introduces a new file structure allowing for smaller 3-rd party SMOD mods.
If you're into SMOD we recommend you to try it out, because this "update" is not made mainly for SMOD devs, but also users that love SMOD but are unable to play it due to Steam and Half-Life 2 updates.

Ok, I am trying to see if I can play smod tactical on the standalone, first I installed smod tactical 5.56 with the texture fix. I put it in the sourcemods folder. Than I changed my smod40stdl(I had to add it as a non steam game cause it wouldnt show when I had put it in sourcemods) target to end with -game smodtactical556 and everytime I tried to start smod40stdl it would just load for a nano second than stop and not even startup. Can you help me? I am so confused.

You also have to modify addcontents.txt as stated on the forum by Vedad1944.
Still have some test to do and fix cs mount now.

Though maybe include in your tutorial for running old mods to make sure that addcontents.txt is mostly commented off so that you don't get the "appid is 320...." error and CTD. Thank you so much for bringing life back to both old and new SMODs!
this is 0.3 version, there's going to at least one more release of SMOD Stdl before Crylife 2.0.

I tried the Standalone version and was disappointed by all the weapons that were removed...
no M1 Garand, no FN M249 LMG, no MP-40, no Mini-gun, no suppressed M4A1, no Sword, no P90, no O.I.C.W.
Because this is SMOD40aq NOT SMOD REDUX (the one you are talking about)

all you need is source sdk 2006 and copy to source mods
Installer just crashes when it tried to run the .cmd I take it I need smod installed already?
Forgive me for asking stupid questions but whenever I load my game, I can hear the menu music but the screen is pitch black.
Second, during installation, the vpk.exe crashes and I can't get it to work somehow.
Help?
