When we released Alpha 3, we didn't want to release another version on the HL2 EP1 engine, yet here we are doing just that. This patch will fix the instability issues Alpha3 has and it also comes with a few fixes to the maps and other small tweaks. The most notable changes have been made to Til's map rnl_Ardennes.

This patch will fix the instability issues Alpha3 has and it also comes with a few fixes to the maps and other small tweaks. The most notable changes have been made to Til's map rnl_Ardennes.

Code:

  • fixed a but that caused the NCO map to crash the game when a certain amount of players was on the server
  • removed damage taken by parachutes
  • tweaked machinegun handling
  • fixed bugs in scoreboard
  • fixed damage lookups for post Alpha 1 weapons
  • fixed bug when being shot and deployed
  • improved stability over Alpha 3 release

Maps:
Ardennes:

  • added fields surrounding the village in the south, the north and the east.
  • changed position of capture zones; middle flag location changed from park to bridge, both axis and allies are spawning outside of the village now.
  • added more than a dozen dynamic doors, 7 rooms in 4 buildings that are now accessible, light switches.
  • fixed visual glitches, optimized the 3d skybox, improved lighting in many places.
  • reduced texture memory, added some craters and piles of rubble along with an overall more war-torn look.
  • Map Overview matched to the new layout.

St. Mére Eglise:

  • Allies need to capture all zones except the Old Folks Home
  • Parachuting area expanded by some additional fields (still experimental)

Ste. Marie du Mont

  • Teamwall bug of the axis hotel spawn fixed
  • Town square requires one man less to capture and it takes only half the time

Known issues:

La Fiere is still missing textures. Since it's currently being worked on to get a proper spawn protection for the allies set up, we were not able to recompile it with working textures.

true. but i really want more people to play this mod, it's more tactical then DoD:S or any or ww2 game (except BiA)

That means you probably didn't have the latest dlls. Always check the main site incase a hotfix has been released if you have such problems.

- It's pushing the Source EP1 engine pretty much to the limit it should be a far smoother affair when they move to the Orange Box codebase.
- Care to explain?
- What interface? There's no HUD.

i mean the interface where you pick your class etc... it's just terrible.

Controls? The mouse is inverted by default! There is no jump key! The sensitivity is so slow ....

And since the performance was just so bad as well, i could not even play or aim.

It might be your computer just doesn't meet the requirements. I had no performance issues at all.

1. That's why there's a settings menu.
2. Part of the mod's genius, it keeps things realistic by stopping bunnyhoppers and makes you vulnerable when you use it to climb over things.
3. Lower your settings or get a faster machine. My friend runs this with a 2ghz p4, 1gb of ram and an Ati 1600 on full sets for crying out loud.

WOW DUDE, there is no jump button?!
you are so smart i just can't believe it, Climb-instead-of-jump is a feature of the mod and it makes climbing to places much more tactical decision and not b-hop like ********.
The performance is pretty great for the huge eye-candy and visual quality this mod have.
It isn't inverted by default to me.
Terrible interface is just ********!

It's a cool mod and you guys obviously put a lot of work into it. The only thing is, I can't play it, the game makes me nauseous / dizzy. I've never become nauseous / dizzy when playing a game before, I'm going to blame the fact that the screen doesn't turn when you turn the mouse. =/

I think its supposed to be like that... I love the fact that the mod is very realistic with the movements and such. I like how the aiming is really nice, the camera follows realistic head movements. If the framerates are low you might start to get nauseous and that could be the reason.

this is one of the greatest mods i have played. how you could bag it out for releasing alpha i dont know. if anyone says this mod is bad im pretty sure they dont know what is good.

Absolutely SUPERB! Just needs more players!

I'm a huge fan of all things "iron site", playing Project Reality, Red Orchestra, and True Combat Elite (as well as beta testing the last two) and RnL is a dream come true, not only because it's WWII but because it takes everything "realistic" to the extent they should be... more than two aiming stances? Awesome! No HUD? No death messages? Even better! Based on the HL2 engine with all the eye candy and other features that brings? Priceless.

Im realy anoyed with this mod... I keep crashing when opening a map and i get Extremely laggy with like 50 fps... and 50 ping... wtf??
