Release BETA

Ladies and gentlemen! It's been 10 months since our first release, Release Alpha, and the reception to that was astounding. To date there have been 10,224 downloads and over 150,000 page views on moddb as well! Astonishing! We can't tell you how much this means to us on the mod team and we wanted to thank you all!

Sovereign Class Starship
The same as last time you will be able to download an installer for the mod straight here from everybody's favourite repository of all ingenuity... Moddb! We advise that you uninstall Release Alpha before installing Release Beta as well, the installer should write over the old files ok, but it's always best going from a clean install.

Star Trek: Continuum - Release BETA

Negh'Var Class BattlecruiserWe are also making the mod available via the Desura platform, this is the preferred platform for those who wish to play against other people as there are the least files operating at the back end to do version checks against, helping to make multiplayer games great for all!

Desura Digital Distribution

D'Deridex Class WarbirdAs last time the Installer and Launcher comes with a caveat. It has been designed with the aim to make it easier to use our mod, from the installation through to the friendly LCARS interface. It gives access to the ability to turn off the advanced shaders and the LCARS font. The mod was not made for the default shader set and looks garish when you're using them! This option has only been made available for those unable to upgrade to a video card capable of rendering Shader model 2b and above. We recommend using Shader 2 wherever possible.

New Stuff Spotlight

There are several new special abilities in the mod, individual to this or that ship, that are there for the discerning fleet commander to take advantage of. One of my favourite is the Fek'Lhr's EMP wave!

EMP Wave

One of the many improvements you may have noticed in the release trailer above is that there is now realistic debris from every ship and station explosion! Here you can see the final moments of existence for a Federation Starbase.

Forums

Don't forget about the forums for providing feedback, bug reports, organising online matches, sharing achievements like you Invasion results, screenshots, war stories or more!

Many people put time and thought into their reviews of release alpha, we would be interested in people updating their reviews to reflect their new impressions of release Beta! Hopefully our new lowest rating will be more than 5/10~ :-P

Until next time, Play long and prosper!

I should mention that the ships in the newspost are cut out of ingame screenshots. No renderings.

Game crashes whenever I try to load a map (any map, not just the mod maps).
Error logs mention fatal SCAR errors and problems creating meshes over 20, what ever that means >.<

Can you please copy and paste the whole log into the bug reporting thread for us to have a look at? Just to be sure, did you try the default HW2 maps in the HW2 Classic game type? They've worked when the full maps wouldn't in the past

Yep, tried that too as a matter of course (the origional maps were the only ones that worked for me in the Alpha >.< )Anyway, I'll get to posting that report!

Why do the ships insist on flying up when I make an attack order? Makes no sense for ships like the Defiant to be flying over my target.

Tactics! You'll find that there is a mix of styles used. Though, one of the things we're going to be reviewing for the next release will be the attack manoeuvres.

I really love what you did with the mod.
Klingon voices are extremely cool.
Shield system and experience system is very good.
You guys are really doing a great job here.

Could you remove the freighter from 'Destroy Production' Victory condition?

It's kinda annoying to search for a sole freighter hiding somewhere while enemy fleet is non-existence.

And my AI still builds tons of turrets and not much fleet. Is there something wrong with it? How should I fix this?

Thanks for the great mod.

Thanks!

I agree to you concerning the 'Destroy Production' victory condition. You can't do much with a freighter. Only build collectors, which are... quite ineffective in battle. This will be discussed.

The AI is another story. This foolish behavior is bugging us for a while now. Sadly no one of us is a good AI scripter, but I'll add an item to our to do list that someone of us reads up on this.
We should really organize some multiplayer matches.

Getting runtime errors all the way at the startup.

Got the mod running with a return to desktop when starting a skirmish though.

Deinstalled the mod + hw2, cleaned my registry, reinstalled, now I just get runtime errors, unable to start the modded game at all. =/

Oh-kay... works right now, even with the runtime errors at the start up. So a bit confusing, but besides this errors your work looks amazing so far guys.

I'm just wondering if there isn't any way to improve the textures of the ships, or did I got something wrong with my settings? =o_

Really great! I love how the ships move and attack
I keep getting shader issues using shader 2 (maybe its the maps? ive tried 2-3maps so far)

using gtx 570, 301.42, windows 7 64bit, 1920 1200 res, i'll see if windows mode fixes it.

I think it did that already (I've noticed that in previous version).

The BOP in the TNG section of the mod is the K'Vort, it never moved its wings on the show. The B'rel in the TMP section of the mod will move its wings as it did that in the show :)

Yes, we didn't over-scale the K'vort, we're not budging from our position on this one ;)

I wanted to post up a screen-shot I took of a skirmish I played with my brother.

100 Klingon ships vs 80+ Federation ships.

It was EPIC. Shader 2.0 is beautiful!

Much pleased with this version. The last one seemed like it would take forever just to build a ship or to mine dilithium!

9.5/10!!!

P.S.: Will there be any future additions to vessels being added in game? I took a look into your file and noticed quite a bit of other ships listed in the AUX file ;)

I miss the Excelsior and Excalibur SCS vessels though~

Perhaps players can build only 1 Super Battle Cruiser per team in future versions?

(e.g.: Romulans = Scimitar?, Federation = Excalibur-SCS?, Klingons = Super Neg'a Var-class?)

Sorry for the long post~ But I JUST LOVE THIS UPDATE!!!
