Post news Report RSS Overheid Demo released!

Overheid is a mod that follows a lesser-known member of the resistance as he makes his way through City 17, and up the ranks of the resistance movement. The demo is an early portion of the game, and includes the first major gameplay climax. It's heavy on combat and action, but the mod as a whole will feature a good mix of exploration, story, puzzles, and combat--similar to Half-Life 2.

Overheid is finally here! I wanted to give everyone a taste and get feedback so I know if I'm on the right track or not. I'm pretty excited about what I've got to show here, andI have plans for much more.

I didn't focus on the story in the demo, but in the full release there's a complex story that takes place during the time Gordon is on his rampage in City 17. As a member of the resistance, you'll definitely see evidence that Gordon is busy elsewhere in the city.

This release is a definitely action-oriented, but the other maps in the release will be paced similarly to Half-Life 2. Anyway, check it out, and please, give me feedback and suggestions!

Check out some of the work still in development:

The number one thing i believe makes mods more boring and uninteresting is using the same old weapon models from hl2. I am not a modder so i dont know a whole lot about making a mod. What i do know is that making custom (or even downloading sweps from garrysmod.org) will make a mod so much better. I strongly reccomend this as it will make the mod so much more fun. Ironsights rock too btw

*sigh*

This mod is IN the Half Life 2 Universe. Thats why there's the HL2 weapons.

true but maybe a few extra weapons made to fit in with the HL2 setting would help make it a small bit better. maybe some human hands instead of HEV suit hands.

Yes, a couple of extra weapons or something instead would make any HL mod better. I know it's in the half life world, so there are set weapons, but that doesn't mean that the one's that Gordon uses are the only ones to be found in the whole world. Some variation is nice.

Saying that, I have yet to play this game.

Yes, it does.

After going through a massive city with hundreds of armed militants and combine enemies, he only finds the weapons you can use. So yes, it does mean those are the only weapons.

SWEPS are incompatible to Hl2 and Hl2 mods. Only garry's mod is able to read LUA files. All other weapons have to be written in c++

well, i dont really think so. Look at Provenance. It had no new weapons, xept for a pistol with silencer, but it was so fun. I played the demo like, 10 times already.

EVERYTHING like that rocks but this is in HL2 universe and Scripted Weapons specially in LUA you must have to practice coding to mod HL2 engine

They could at least replace the HEV hands, like they did in Riot Act.

I'm focusing right now on story and mapping, so swapping out the weapons is pretty low on my priority list. Overheid is a 5-map mod right now, so I've got a lot of mapping to do.

But having said that, if I come across a simple way to add a weapon that compliments the project, then I'll do it. If you have suggestions, feel free to post them or send me a link.

so far it looks quit impressive Cesig !

i like the name and wondered why you did choose it, and what it does mean to you. i'm Dutch, and Overheid is a dutch word, it mean Coverment. did you know this, and it that why you choose it, or does it mean something else in English, what i don't know?

I chose it because I liked how it sounded, and because of the Dutch meaning.
